2100 mile trip and this is the worst experience we've had. If you plan to dine outside, prepare to be treated like a second class citizen. We were in town for one night and looking forward to eating outside (we can't do that where we're from right now). The people eating inside were being served and checked on, etc. We told the hostess/cashier that we wanted to eat there, seated outside in their sidewalk dining area. We were surprised when we were handed our food in styrofoam containers and bags and told to go inside to get the drinks ourselves and pay. Then the employee rudely and condescendingly demanded their paper to-go menu back from us and said "we have our menu online you can look at it there." (We were planning to order dessert and wine after our meal, which obviously didn’t happen) One of the reasons we picked this place was because I was intrigued by the Greek coffee so I was really disappointed when they handed it to me in a styrofoam cup. They refused to refund it because they were "already out the coffee." They did finally end up remaking it so I was able to, thankfully, have that experience.
The food was decent, nothing to write home about. It was overpriced and heavily reliant on filling you up with pita bread. The only thing that was absolutely no good was the tzatziki sauce. It was very heavy on the mint; when I put it on my gyro it made my gyro taste like a stick of gum. Made me nauseous and I couldn't eat it.
I wouldn't ever eat here again and I wouldn't recommend it to...
Read moreCalled to place a take out order. Short wait time of about 15-20 minutes around 5pm on a Saturday. What they neglected to tell me though was that Main Street in Osseo was totally closed due to some festival. I had to drive all over the area to find somewhere to park so I could walk to the restaurant and pick up my food. It would have been nice if they mentioned this when I placed my order. I don’t live in Osseo and had no idea this event was happening.
Food was decent overall. The regular gyros were good, large portion, meat was cooked well - but they were not very balanced with ingredients. There was far too much tomato and almost no onion. Hummus and pita were both good, but we could have used more pita since we got the hummus and garlic feta dip. Feta dip was good, but it could have used some lemon juice or other acid and more garlic (I could not even taste garlic in it). Falafel was over cooked. The dolmadas were good. For those wondering, the dolmadas appetizers do have ground beef in them, the menu does not specify this for whatever reason and some places do serve vegetarian style ones for their appetizers so it is not a given they have meat.
The inside of the restaurant was pretty dull and dark inside. Not somewhere I’d want to dine in, but that is my...
Read moreThis might’ve been an unfortunate event, but my personal experience was incredibly frustrating at olympia. I came in on my lunch hour to order some takeout, who wouldn’t want a fresh gyro on their lunch break?? The food is really good, not many complaints about the quality, however the dolmades are NOT vegetarian, they were more like koupepia, which is fine for me but offering both is a must in a Greek establishment. There was also the problem of the dolmades being over sauced. The styrofoam takeout was SOAKED in lemon garlic sauce, it was almost as disappointing as a pasta with too much oil. Flavor was still great though.
My main complaint was that I ordered one gyro, a dolmades appetizer, and a salad. As someone who’s worked in a Greek restaurant, that’s a very quick ticket. Shouldn’t take longer than 10-15 minutes. It took over half an hour for me to get my food, and that’s just unacceptable. It was extremely frustrating because I barely had time to eat. I had to shove it all down as fast as I could because I got there with 42 minutes left on my lunch, and I left with 10 minutes before I had to clock back in. Good food, not served as quickly as it needed to be. The quality is what saved this review or it would’ve...
