I've never been disappointed in this place. Quite honestly, I'm shocked Ottumwa has such an amazing coffee shop. The moment you walk through the doors you feel like you're in a trendy NYC coffee shop. The aroma, the atmosphere, the barista's appearance- It's all perfect. What is amazing is that Hub Coffee is a christian company- backed by local church, The Bridge. As your ordering, take notice of the architecture of this building. What was once the local YWCA has turned into a coffee shop, but you can clearly tell that Hub Coffee intended to expose the natural beauty of the building. My favorite part of the building is the bare brick walls. As someone who loves preserving old buildings, houses, and learning about the history, I'd say Hub Coffee has done a great job of keeping this building alive.
While their menu appears very limited, don't be afraid to order off menu. Might I recommend an iced dirty chai latte? They make the best in town. Don't be afraid to chat with your barista, either. They're all incredibly friendly and genuinely care.
Local Ottumwa businesses, take note. Hub Coffee has done it right! Ottumwa locals, don't miss the opportunity to visit Hub Coffee. Yes, we have Starbucks in town, but shopping local only helps our local community. And dare I say it? I feel Hub Coffee makes their drinks better than Starbucks!

Read moreI drink coffee. Medium and dark roast 99 percent of the time. Hot or cold brew. No milk, cream, soy or flavorings. I have seen many favorable reviews about Hub Coffee and decided to check it out. Although they only had light roast ( city or full city roast) I did enjoy the coffee. I tried two different single origin pour over brews. One Guatemalan and one Kenyan. Both were very good. The Kenyan had a bold blueberry aspect which I really liked. Depending on where you are from, the price for a pour over would range from very inexpensive to no more than reasonable. I'm not aware of any other shops offering pour over coffee in the area. I occasionally make it at home so I wanted to see if there was any difference. The place is very clean and open. Lots of table space and seating. Soft music being played. Overall very nice ambience. The manager/barista was quite friendly and helpful. A steady stream of people coming in without it being crowded. Definitely a good place...
Read moreWhat a cool space, the unassuming outside could cause you to miss what's available inside. This space is amazing. You could comfortably work privately, have a date, collaborate with co-workers, being a group to socialize because it's big enough to fit many needs, but small enough to feel welcoming. Bathrooms larger and better than most coffee shops but let's get to the important stuff: the coffee and the service. The service was very friendly without being pushy or annoying, just genuinely inviting. The coffee was really good, I tried a Shade Tree which was a new concept to me and I loved it. It was a little sweeter than I prefer but if I lived local I would find the right balance. I really loved everything about this shop and how it's connected to a church. Prices were lower than normal as well. Keep up the great work! No doubt if I lived local I'd...
