I’m a sushi lover and eat sushi 2 or 3 times a week. I was very excited to see a new sushi restaurant in the neighborhood so we went there for dinner. The menu was really quite overwhelming and the prices were very good. I ordered some salmon skin rolls and the wife ordered some chicken dish and egg rolls. There were two waitresses and two sushi chefs; and unknown who else was in the back room.
My salmon skin rolls are supposed to have the salmon skin roasted. They were still slimy and were not cooked and rubbery. My wife never even got her egg rolls. There were two or three kids (appeared to be the owners or managers kids) running around the restaurant. When most people go out for dinner, we don’t want kids running around; heck that is why we are going out; to get away from the kids for a short while.
Overall, appetizers came late or did not come at all. Sushi chef needs more training on how to prepare various rolls. Waitress need to take better notes on the order. Owner’s kids may be cute to them, but patrons don’t want to see or hear them. Also, don’t clear plates unless they are totally empty.
Also, adding an automatic $1.25 fee to all online pickup orders is considered a ‘Tip’ to most customers, and no further tip will be given. Consideration should be given if this automatic fee is better than a tip.
All new restaurants must go through a learning phase. Please take this review as criticism that you can learn by. I give all new restaurants 3 strikes. So far, this restaurant has earned 1 strike. I’ll try again in a month. Hopefully they will have gotten their act together for what people in...
Read moreTLDR; twenty out of ten I recommend this place.
From the very first time I walked in here with my wife and daughter, we always get a warm welcome, as if we've been a part of their family for years. The sushi is the best I've had around the area, the service is unmatched and the atmosphere is warm and cozy with a touch of tradition.
Food: There is a wide variety of food items, but we always go back for the sushi. The rolls are always well made with the best products around, not a single grain of rice out of place. The sushi platters always have big pieces of fish that you can actually taste and fills me up every time. Our daughter loves the miso soup and rice.
Service: Where do I even begin. Whether I'm ordering over the phone or we spend the night out at the restaurant, they always remember us and ask us how we're doing, again giving us those very familiar family vibes. This level of service has always been welcomed, especially since my family and I just moved to KC not too long ago. It's not just my family they remember, we ate here tonight, and almost everybody who walked through the doors were greeted by first name and a question about how that family is doing. You just don't find this kind of service anywhere anymore, except at Miyabi.
Atmosphere: The decor incorporates some cultural and traditional aspects, the lights are set at a nice level, and like some others there is an open view of the sushi chefs at work. Presentation is always spot on.
Thank you @Miyabi for creating some of the best restaurant experiences we will ever...
Read moreI was served a sushi I did not order for and their kung pao chicken is the worst, you can have. Leaving the food aside this place is run by a bunch of people who lack basic manners on how to treat customers. When I questioned a few things like why am I being charged for what I did not ask for or the kung pao chicken has a very odd smell I was yelled at by the lady who took our order: " My kids are having it whats your problem?" Then she went on yelling in front of a few customers in her native language, I felt threatened and hostile by how I was treated..... she yelled so badly that you would not imagine it in a restaurant. I called 911 after leaving the premises and was told an officer will call me to take notes about this incident. I am absolutely horrified on how I was treated, when I politely said this is not the way you treat customers ....... I was replied "it depends on what kind of customer you are". I would give this...
