Shack Breakfast & Lunch — Restaurant in Overland Park

I had the country fried steak, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. Everything is cooked to perfection. Even the coffee is amazing. One thing I like about this place is the coffee mugs have clever phrases on them, and you can buy them for $8 with your meal. The service is top notch, even when they are busy. This is one of my go-to restaurants when I have relatives visiting from out of town. They always love this place as much as I do. The food is amazing, the portions are just enough to give you a full belly (I'm a big guy, so that's saying a lot!). The only thing better than the food and service is the prices. You will not go broke eating here.

Update: 8/2/2025 I brought another houseguest to have breakfast here, as I always do. It was his first time here. He had the Notorious BNG. He is now mad at me for not bringing him here in the previous times he jas visited Kansas 😂 The manager, Sasha, was checking on the tables and seeing how everyone was doing. This is a thing you dont see often in restaurants anymore. Its good customer service to do so and I for one appreciate it very much. We got to talking to Sasha a little. She is very sweet and genuinely kind. My friend was going on about how good the food is. I told her I always bring my family to eat here when they visit. She appreciated that very much and offered me a a little incentive for being a loyal customer. It really is my favorite breakfast place. Sasha made my day with her kindness. Jessica was our server. Talk about a restaurant that's doing it right- this place takes the burnt coffee, slow service and stuffy environment that typically comes with greasy spoon diner food and flips the script. There was a line when we arrived at 10am this morning and we were told it would be 15-20 minutes to be seated, but our beeper went off in 8. We were given water and coffee as we were seated and both containers were left on the table, something I believe to be a staple of any solid breakfast joint. I picked up my coffee mug expecting the typical flavor-lacking, slightly burnt coffee and was pleasantly surprised to find that the coffee tasted like coffee. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, showing us all the house favorites. It took us a while to make our choices because the menu is honestly hilarious. We did finally decide and it almost felt like Mason had a telepathic ability because she came to take our order as soon as we had made up our minds. Scott got a skillet, and I got Meg Ryan's Do It Yourself- you get your choice of eggs, a meat, and a carb, all served with a side of hash browns.
