(More like 4.5, not 4, stars)
My husband & I stayed at Drury Inn & Suites for 3 nights (W, Th, F) in a king bed room & paid $413.06 incl all fees/taxes.
ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: The GM checked us in; it took approximately 10 minutes. I requested a quiet room on a high floor as I'd be working on-site. We were assigned room #300.
ROOM • Amenities: Coffee maker (not a Keurig for those wondering), microwave, mini fridge. Unfortunately, even on the highest setting, the mini fridge barely kept our drinks cold. We had to get ice to chill our sodas. • Bath: Plenty of hot water; pressure was a bit light. But wow.. the toilet was the loudest we'd ever heard! The next morning I asked management to check it out. When we returned that evening it was noticeably more quiet, so thank you! • Bed: King-sized, very comfy bed & pillows! • Cleanliness: Looked OK when we arrived, except for the used tissue on the floor under the sink. Makes me think the housecleaner didn't clean the bathroom floor. Also, trash cans do not have liners (a bit inconvenient when throwing away feminine hygiene products or food). Housecleaning swung by & tidied up the room while we were away Th. • Decor: Standard, but I really liked the brick accent wall! • Heating/cooling: Room was set at 65° when we arrived. A bit chilly for us, so we bumped it up to 70. • Sound: So-so. A few loud bangs, showers/toilet running.. things you hear in every hotel. You can hear highway traffic midday, but it wasn't bothersome during my virtual work meetings. Room is directly over the atrium though, so breakfast time was quite noisy (e.g. children crying, dishes clanking). • TV: Standard • View: Very small window; west facing view of roof & other businesses. • WiFi: Free & fast • Other: Door lock jammed a few times & does not always swing fully shut. Be sure to pull it closed behind you.
COVID-19 precautions: Very minimal. Plexiglass at check-in counter & hand sanitizer throughout. Guests serve themselves food & although gloves are available, I did not see anyone wear them. Masks not required in Johnson County so the hotel does not enforce any sort of policy. 99% of guests & employees did not wear masks.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Excellent. The GM was very polite, as was the staff member I requested assistance from.
FOOD: Average Drury breakfast & evening snacks/drinks.
LOCATION/PARKING: Very convenient location! Close to restaurants & stores. Appreciated the free, covered garage parking that required use of your room key to enter (and again into the building, then your room).
OTHER ACTIVITIES: Pool/hot tub were nice, but a bit small so we mostly avoided it - too many children running around.
Would I recommend? Yes, but be aware that this is a very popular hotel for families w/ small children resulting in crowded food & pool areas. Would I stay again? Yes, but only once more citizens are vaccinated (since masks aren't being worn) & would request a room away...
Read moreFor everyone looking for the best hotel in Overland Park for the best price, this is the hotel for you. I recently stayed here for a Friday night and Saturday night. Stephanie the general manager was amazing and made staying here very pleasant and easygoing, even with the COVID-19 pandemic going on. Stephanie will for sure be the reason I stay here again in the future for the great customer service. She made me feel like a very valued customer and was able to help with any and all requests I had.
The details all the hotel goers are looking for in a review... Each hotel room has a fairly new microwave and refrigerator, great for popcorn/microwavable meals and storing leftovers from restaurant carryout. The fixtures in the bathroom all were essentially new; no leaking shower or faucets and looking very clean. All of the bedding was clean with no stains and had the freshly washed smell. Every appliance and piece of furniture appeared to be thoroughly cleaned prior to my arrival, to comply with present COVID-19 standards. The A/C in the room worked very well and cooled the room quite quickly, even with the hot and humid weather that we had during the stay. The hotel has a parking garage that requires access with your room card , which is free for all guests. The parking garage is very well lit at night, which is great to deter any sort of suspicious activity. The free breakfast and 5:30 kickback are currently being served in a grab and go format at the front desk and bar area; no public seating, but is still enjoyable back in the room none the least. My favorite thing, which is different from many hotels, the doors on the rooms do not slam shut after entering the room. Which definitely makes for a more restful sleeping experience in the hotel.
This hotel in my opinion is the best that Overland Park has to offer for the price. I stayed on the fifth floor and had no issues whatsoever with anything in the room or with customer service. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who is willing to spend a little more for the best location and customer service in...
Read moreWe had originally booked our stay at the Holiday in suites and when we arrived there the rooms were not up to the standard that they should be for Holiday and.
We decided to go to this hotel and we had actually figured out that we had stayed there a few years back when we were in town for a soccer tournament.
The lady at the front desk greeted us with a smile and welcomed us to their hotel and was more than accommodating while trying to arrange a room for us.
She gave us a great rate and a great room on the very top floor. It ended up being a sweet and it was the perfect size for the four of us that were there.
Well we were there. Their main elevator went down and they took the time to ride it out on paper and second notice under everyone's door and let them know that unfortunately one of their elevators had went down and that they do have a extra elevator that can be used and they also opened up their snack area and had the pop machine accessible for everyone so that they could get popped 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until they're elevator is fixed.
When we were leaving breakfast nook area was closed off and I went to the front desk to check out and asked the gentleman at the front desk if we could go in there quickly to fill our pop cups on our way out and he said absolutely come with me and he walked us back down there, open it up and allowed us to go in and get our pop filled.
The hotel is very clean. It's in a good location. The staff are all very friendly and the pool is a very nice pool that goes from indoors to outdoors and it's open all year round.
They also serve a snack every night from 5:00 to 7. :00 and when you stay there you get a drink voucher to have a few drinks each night while you are staying there.
There is plenty of parking and it is within a very easy spot to get to multiple different restaurants and locations and it is only about a 20-minute drive to the Kansas...
