Hubby and I get out together MAYBE twice a year. This year for hubby's birthday we decided to go to the Brookside because we went there alot when we were dating, but haven't been there in about 10 years. I REALLY wish we had gone somewhere else!
We were seated right away, service was a bit slow. The salad bar was less than adequate. After I had my "salad" and was seated again, I noticed a lady eating directly out of the salad bar as she was filling her plate. Gross but not really the restaurant's fault. The waiter was icy and acted like we were bothering him by just being there.
The room was very loud! There was one large party who was talking so loud that I couldn't talk to my husband. It was worse than the cafeteria at my kid's school.
I ordered a chicken dish which came with a side of some kind of potato which was COLD and a tiny bowl of veggies which consisted of about 4 carrot pieces and maybe 2 broccoli heads. The chicken was so so, I ate about half of it because I was hungry but it wasn't good enough to take home.
Hubby ordered a scallop meal that gross looking and he ate only the 5 scallops it came with and none of the unrecognizable rice concoction they sat on. He asked for a glass of wine and the waiter pushed the "special" wine of the night, which turned out to cost 8.00/glass!
My iced tea was all ice and I finished it in about 4 swallows.
What a total waste of our night out, especially knowing that we won't be going out again for dinner until October for my birthday. With three kids and the economy the way it is, that is all we can do! I feel...
Read moreWhat a fantastic place to come enjoy a meal! They have been in business for decades, and their good reputation is well deserved. The restaurant is easy to find on Route 67, and there is lots of parking. There are two dining areas, and a large bar as well. Also outdoor seating too! Staff is very friendly, but the real star of the show is the food! High quality fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly. I had an order of clams casino, they were super tasty, and the shrimp cocktail included 5 huge shrimp that were so firm and good, each one was worth 2 bites! The French onion soup was stellar, loaded with tons of gooey cheese & onions. I had the chicken "Gypsy" style, which is sauteed with sausage, roasted potatoes, vinegar peppers, and a tangy wine sauce that was delicious! My friends had the homemade lobster ravioli, chicken Marsala, and homemade gnocchi with braised pork and a great tomato sauce. Everyone was pleased with the large portions and fair prices. Finished off the meal with some Sambuca, which came in a snifter with the traditional 3 coffee beans. We all had leftovers to take home, and had full bellies & satisfied smiles on our faces. I highly recommend coming here, and will...
Read more"My recent visit to the Brookside Inn Restaurant was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The service was impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who were happy to answer my questions and make recommendations.
Now, let's talk about the food! The fresh shucked lightly fried whole belly clams were truly outstanding. The batter was light and crispy, allowing the natural sweetness of the clams to shine through. Each bite was a perfect combination of textures and flavors. The veal scallopini was equally impressive. The veal was cooked to tender perfection and the accompanying sauce was rich and flavorful. It was a dish that truly satisfied my taste buds.
Overall, my experience at the Brookside Inn Restaurant was truly exceptional. The combination of delicious food, impeccable service, and a warm and inviting atmosphere makes it a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience, look no further than the...
