A Great Place to Eat if you want to have a private conversation.
I have been to Five Guys on numerous occasions. The restaurant and comfort rooms are clean and comfortable with good lighting. I am greeted with a cherry hello when I enter the restaurant, something not often seen in a fast-food place. Five Guys offers free peanuts from a giant box near the front counter along with piles of bagged potatoes. The restaurant offers basic burgers and hotdogs which are prepared as ordered so the food is always fresh. The French fries for some reason are usually served somewhat soggy but you can special order them well done if you like your fries crisp.
The wait time for an order is usually around five minutes during which time you can seat yourself at a table. The cost for a basic hamburger and fries runs around $15 which implies that a group of four having a basic hamburger, fries and soda would run you around $80. The staff is pleasant and friendly. Five Guys never uses frozen potatoes or frozen hamburger patties, which I think is a big part of why the food tastes great: definitely a notch above McDonalds and Burger King.
Yet, despite the great food and nice atmosphere, I have noticed that despite being in a very busy shopping center, the restaurant seems to have very few customers even at lunch and dinner hours. I ascribe this situation to the fact that the cost of dining at Five Guys simply exceeds the average family food budget and due to the large number of fast-food units that consumers can choose from; many of which have lower priced menu items. A FIVE STAR place except for the high prices.
Bottom line, if you want to have a private conversation along with a great burger, or just don’t like crowds, Five Guys is the...
Read moreI am familiar with the 5 Guys in Amity. I gave this new one a couple of weeks to get some practice before I checked it out today. I found the same food and service I have been getting for years at the Amity location, which is everything I was hoping for. If anything the service was even better! I was there at lunch time on a Saturday and it was quite busy. My burger was great (as expected). The "small" fries would have been a large anywhere else but that was no surprise. My wife has never had 5 Guys before but the burger I brought home had her enthusiastic endorsement. If I had to nit-pick, I would say the fries had more salt than I like. As this location is two miles and five minutes away, rather than ten miles and twenty minutes to Amity, this is a welcome addition to the rather limited local choices. Good job!
Looking back at this some five months (and many visits) later all I have to add is Thank You for...
Read moreI've been coming to the five guys since they've opened. It has always been good tasting and quality food with friendly service. This is not to be a dig at the people who run the store because they are still amazing. I've been choosing other places to eat lately because of the price of the food and what we get. Fries: they're good, part of the pain in the price was absorbed by getting a scoop of extra fries which I have not seen in my bags the last couple times I have gone. Burger: it's a decent burger, but if I want to pay 15.00 for a bacon cheeseburger, i'll go to Sitting Duck and get a full meal experience instead of just a burger. Hot dogs: 10 dollars for a single bacon dog...I'll make the drive to Duchess and get 2 long dogs for less.
The taste is there, the quality is there, the people running the show is there. The price is driving me away from...
