Win's Drive-In — Restaurant in Oxnard

I am totally befuddled why anyone would rate this place as even mediocre. It is downright awful. My wife and I stopped by to try the food based on good reviews I had read and as we were shopping nearby. My wife was afraid to try the place because you could smell the grease 20 feet away. I convinced her to try it, but I am so sorry I did. The place needs a good cleaning on the outside just as much as on the inside. The owners wife, who was friendly took our order. But as we looked inside it looked like a greasepool. The grill looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. We ordered two Billy burgers and a large fry, totaled $9.05. The meat patty was so small, I thought it was a baby burger. The bun swallowed the patty. Included in the burger were lettuce, tomato and thousand island dressing. Tasteless burger accompanied by greasy fries. My wife took two bites of the burger and proclaimed it was the worst burger she had ever eaten. She made me promise to never take her back again. The guy taking the orders was kinda rude when the place was empty. They have it posted they take credit and debit cards then the guy says it doesn't work and and directs you to go to the gas station to get cash funny thing is that the lady at the gas station says they have been doing that for years I guess they don't wanna pay to have that payment option available for customers. I used to come here so much when I was younger service and quality has gone downhill. Also we noticed tins of electrical code violations outside I took pictures of, not to mention during this time of covid miklo or whatever his name is touches your money then food definitely not following public health protocol which I will be...

Solid charbroiled burger, secret sauce is great, fries are good. The seating and condiments offered are adequate but spartan at best. If the outside picnic table area were kept cleaner, and some relish/mayo/bottle of hot sauce/napkins/etc., (beyond a sloppy can of ketchup with a dirty pumper attached) were offered, this would be a solid 4 star. Can't go four stars now given that there are far nicer establishments offering the same level of good food with a better place to sit and eat and similar pricing.

That said, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good charbroiled burger in Oxnard to go or who is not bothered by adequate but not above-grade...
