They just nickel and dime you. If you order an enchilada or something anywhere else you expect chips and salsa, right? Nope. Went today to pick up lunch orders for the office. I ordered an enchilada and a taco and got chips and salsa. My coworker who ordered an enchilada and sopapia or however that’s spelled, did not. I know this was not a mistake because a couple of months ago I ordered an enchilada and cheese dip to go. When I got there to pick it up, I didn’t have any chips. When I asked about them they told me “that’s an extra charge”. When I asked why they didn’t come with the cheese dip they said “because most people have chips at home”. That’s not the point, plus I wasn’t going home. Once again I was picking up lunch for the office. Also, when I went to sign the receipt the owner seriously said “here’s the receipt, I need you to sign and leave a tip for the girls”. Ummmm, don’t tell me to leave a tip. I always tip, but being TOLD to did not sit well with me. There’s much gentler and better ways of nudging someone to leave a tip than that. Regardless, I most likely won’t be back. All of these things were said to me by the man with longer blonde hair. It was the same employee, and I’m pretty sure he’s the owner. So he’s the one setting the tone for the whole establishment. Do with this information as you will, but it’s not the best of experiences.
Updated review based on reply. You’re not a subway. If you’re going to pick a place to compare yourself to, pick another Mexican restaurant. Let’s pick Rodeo’s, the one right down the way from you. Yes. If you order just a enchilada, a single enchilada, you get chips and salsa. This is the same at every single Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to, except for this place. So for anyone reading this, just go to rodeo’s. It’s right down the road, better service, and you won’t get hassled about a common staple that usually...
Read moreWe went here because this is where my sister and her family wanted to go for lunch after church. Now I remember why we haven’t been in over 10 years. Really. The food is only mediocre at best and the service today was so below par today I decided I had to leave this review. It took an hour to even get our order taken. By the time we got our order we ended up taking most of it home because we were full on chips. We literally had to ask 4 times over a 35 minute period after getting the food to get extra napkins for the table. My mom never did get a refill on her water. The chicken fingers were so small on my plate that they ended up bringing out an extra one (I believe they overheard us talking about it amongst ourselves). By the time my wife’s order of beef and cheese nachos got to the table they were cold and soggy. I believe they forgot about her. She was the last one in our group to get her order, a good 3-5 minutes after the rest of us, and we ordered first. Then we had to remind them she ordered the lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream to go with it. Now I can understand if the place is wrapped up with customers for the delay. But there were empty tables around us that never got filled. That says a lot about a restaurant, especially on a Sunday after church. Now I know we all will forgive not so perfect service if the food makes up for it or vice versa. But this was beyond anything I have experienced, anywhere, before. I guess we should have went to our usual Sunday lunch spot (Our Place Diner). If you really want a good Mexican meal, try The Blue Agave. It’s just a little north of town and the food is excellent. My wife and I eat there or Our Place Diner regularly. If passing through and your hungry they are both locally owned and run, as is El Palacio, but the food and service is far better at...
Read moreMy family and I stopped here on our way back from a Troy football game. Haven’t eaten here in forever and last I remembered, it was great! Well, not tonight.
First, let me say that our server, Alyssa, was awesome. She was super sweet and attentive. Not sure how they’re able to keep her around.
I should have known how the experience was gonna go when we ordered queso and it came out yellow… it was definitely just melted velveeta cheese.
My wife ordered the chicken chimichanga and a margarita, I ordered the crispy quesadilla and my kids both ordered a combo plate with enchiladas and tacos.
The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The chimichanga was not fried, so it was just a burrito basically, and the chicken was not seasoned AT ALL. You could tell it was just straight up boiled.
The beef on everyone else’s plate was dry and flavorless. My quesadilla was so hard and chewy that I couldn’t cut it with a knife.
The sweet server came over and asked us how everything was and we politely told her that the food wasn’t edible. She profusely apologized and said she would go talk to the manager.
The manager came over to our table, put his arm up on the back of the booth and said “Alright, talk to me”… super unprofessional. We explained the situation and his reply was “Tell ya what. I’ll take half off of your meal (pointing at my wife), but that’s all I can do. I can’t take the heat come Monday morning.”… honestly, it came off as douche-y and arrogant.
Nobody finished even half of their food, I paid my $65 check, yes, it was still $65 after he took half off of my wife’s meal, left Alyssa a tip and left.
I sure as hell won’t ever be back and I would recommend you go somewhere else. This “Mexican” food was the whitest Mexican food I’ve...
