Highly recommended. Our new favorite.
Authenticity: 10/10 Food quality: 10/10: Service: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 *Quality of meat is hands down one of the best in the Chicago area.
Most Korean restaurants in Chicago and its suburbs are similar. The food is decent and the menu is basic. However, K-BBQ is an outlier. Their simple, transparent, and thoughtful approach to food resonates throughout their restaurant starting from the exterior, to the interior, including the service, the food and ultimately to the quality fo their food. They have a new thoughtful concept to BBQ and it is executed flawlessly. Their menu offerings are unique and carefully selected.
I visited with a good mix of people in our group; we had elder Koreans (with dentures), children, and non-Koreans. Something we all had in common is that we are picky restaurant customers and we are observant of the small details. We expect top cleanliness and top food quality, held to standards that should be put forth for food made with love. K-BBQ satisfied us in every sense possible and we highly recommend this restaurant. This is, without hesitation, our new go to Korean restaurant.
There is deep thought behind every presentation, dish and cut of meat. Their sides dishes are simple but each one is made to perfection. Crisp, fresh and savory. Their KBBQ soup deeply wholesome, their cold noodles were delicate and not overbearing. There was no aftertaste of MSG or overbearing compensations from fake seasoning found in other restaurants. Their food was so rich yet simple, carrying through their natural flavors. The meat is cut by a famous local expert in the Korean community. The beef and pork were all excellently marbled and colored. We cannot wait to return. Thank you for such a lovely experience, it's refreshing to see a restaurant and its staff love...
Read moreI came here with family and the girl who attended us was so rude, everytime we asked a question she answered so rudely. This was our first time trying a place like this and she had asked if they wanted us to make the fried rice in our grill or in the back but honestly we were so confused we just said we’ll do it but then we realized we were eating the meat with out the fried rice , it was just sitting there so we then realized what she meant by that so we asked if they can cook it in the back and she said “I don’t know if I can do that anymore that’s why I asked in the beginning” with such attitude. This wasn’t all tho we read the meats come with rice and soup and we got nothing until we asked for it which is so dumb when we did ask she really said “oh you guys want it” like obviously who is going to miss out on something that’s included come on!!! Anyways don’t go here if you want to be treated like a dumb person. The food wasn’t even that good for them to be acting like that. They were so stingy with the portions of meats, rice and everything else. Also the fried rice was not good at all! Never coming back to this place! I was hungry before coming in and was still hungry after leaving. Oh and they added beans in the miso soup so yea no one ate that. It was also EXPENSIVE for...
Read moreK-BBQ = K-MSG We had Rib eye and Marinated short ribs. Good points: The staff's welcoming greeting Things to improve: K-BBQ used significant MSG in the side dishes and seasoned ribs. The excessive use of MSG needs to be reduced. I get thirsty after eating at Korean restaurants, depending on how much MSG is used in the food. After dining at the K-BBQ, the thirst intensified when I got into the car. Although sweet drinks or ice cream helped somewhat, the thirst didn't subside even after having ice cream. I slept poorly because I had to drink until late at night and make bathroom trips. K-BBQ uses significant MSG in the side dishes and seasoned ribs. Sliced mushrooms & pepper were dried. Giving the check to the man after finishing the meal. Why do they assume that the man will naturally take care of the payment? The woman who went together won't suggest returning to that restaurant to the man. Appropriate eye contact: The person, whether an employee or the owner, stared at my eyes for an uncomfortably long time while saying, "Please come back" The person seemed to have eyeliner tattoos and was wearing a mask, the unusual staring customer’s eyes that long seemed intimidating and unpleasant. It was...
