This is the 1st time I actually felt scammed by a restaurant. First time ordering. Called in a dinner order at 5:01 for pick-up and was told my order would be ready in 10-15 min. Got there at 5:14 and, sure enough, it was ready. No customers dining in and my order appeared to be the only ToGo order ready at that moment.
Spicy Basil Fried Rice add shrimp. There were 5 TAIL-ON shrimp, a slight gooey sweetness and overwhelming basil flavor, none of which I cared for. NEVER have I been served fried rice with tail-on shrimp in the past 1/2 a century.
Wonton soup - pink in color with dry barbecued pork, and a gross wonton noodle that was thin, pink, flabby and disintegrated. The dumpling flavor itself wasn't bad. The pink tinted soup was disgusting. I've NEVER been served pink wonton soup. Obviously it wasn't fresh and had been sitting around for a while as the pink barbecue color leeched into the broth. My own white pepper, soy sauce and chili oil couldn't fix this disaster.
Their namesake house dish (5 Star Delight) was supposed to be breaded chicken sautéed in a chili paste (which was served on the side rather than cooked into the dish?) with green peppers, carrots and peapods. This actually smelled good, but had to have been leftover or prepared at another time. Some of the breading was hard.
You can't prepare and bag this meal in 13 minutes or less unless it was already made. The bulk of the meal -- incl. the chicken and shrimp went down the garbage disposal. Thirty-two dollars worth. Never done that before for any take-out from anywhere, but in this case, thought it was the most sensible and safe thing to do.
I wish I had taken photos. This restaurant is another example of one that should never have gone into business. Seems like a lot of hassle to intentionally...
Read moreSo disappointed!!! We used to absolutely love this place, but apparently they have new ownership or something. It has a new name (SUKHO Thai Cuisine) and a different menu. We didn't know this when we called to order for carryout as the website hasn't been updated as of this review. I ordered the basil fried rice, which used to be absolutely amazing and a favorite of mine, but what I recieved was definitely different and dramatically spicier, while less flavorful overall. I couldn't eat much of it. Upon some research we learned that the new menu item is "spicy basil fried rice." My husband ordered the chicken garlic delight, which is still listed on the website as "Stir-fried meat, baby corn, and mushrooms, with garlic sauce, over steamed broccoli." What he recieved was literally just some chicken pieces sauteed with garlic. No vegetables or sauce. He said it was good, but I really feel like we should have been informed, especially since "garlic delight" isn't on the new menu at all. I will say that the crab rangoons and baby egg rolls were still good, so maybe we'll give this place another try in the future now that we've actually seen the updated menu and can make more informed choices when ordering. For now, though, I'm feeling pretty annoyed and sad to think I might never get to eat my favorite fried rice dish again. Admittedly, I'm pregnant and extra irritable, so take this review with a...
Read moreMy first visit to Smile Thai & Asian Kitchen was an absolute delight. The place was conveniently located, and there were plenty of parking spots, which I always appreciate when I’m out for food.
The service was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, and they were incredibly helpful in guiding me through the menu and recommending authentic Thai dishes. I started with the “Yum Woon Sen” as a starter, which was delicious and refreshing. For my main course, I opted for the “Kaprow Kai Sup” (chicken basil stir-fry), which was a perfect blend of flavors and textures. And of course, I couldn’t resist my favorite dish, the “Pad Ped Pla Dook,” which was simply amazing.
To cool down after my spicy meal, I ordered a Thai ice coffee, which was a refreshing and delicious choice. For dessert, I indulged in the “Kanom Toy” and the “Mango Cake,” both of which were incredibly tasty.
Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Smile Thai & Asian Kitchen. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Thai dining experience. I’ll definitely be back again, and I’ll definitely check out their lunch...
