This was literally the worst experience in a restaurant that I have ever had. We have been to this establishment dozens and dozens of times and have never had any encounters with the owner or the owners daughters. We have seen the one daughter (the one with the gray hair and the 70's makeup) have issues with other patrons. Today (Easter Sunday) we decided to go there for brunch with our family. I ordered a skirt steak sandwich which we have ordered countless times. The sandwich was extremely tough, so much so I ended up spitting out both bites I had taken. When the waitress came back to the table I explained why I was returning my meal but I wanted the same thing. After coming back to the table countless times this poor waitress said they won't let me return the steak sandwich. We asked for the manager at which point she came over to the table. She told me that if I returned the steak and got the same thing I would be required to pay for both meals. I thought she was joking, I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. I responded are you crazy? I am not paying for 2 steak dinners. I even showed her where I had spit out the meat. She then walked away and heading back towards us my daughter in law showed her how the fork had bent. She asked me "did that happen when you cut the steak"? I responded yes at which times she had the nerve to call me a liar. She then brought to go containers to our table and said to box up our food and get out and she added she would call the police. I told her go ahead and call them. So here I am with an owner of a fairly busy place gaslighting me. I have never been so insulted to be accused of lying and asked to leave because my meal was bad. And after all that believe it or not they had the nerve to put the meal I returned on the bill. This entire ordeal was crazy and I should have known better because I have seen it with other people. We will never go back and we will make sure none of our family and friends won't either. The rudeness in which I was treated just had me in shock. So for Easter I left this dump having not eaten and totally aggravated. If they continue to decide to keep Miss Old 70's dealing with the public, they will be sure to see that it will hurt their business. Also just as an add on, there is no ambience, when I have been there both with my mother and husband they began vacuuming right directly at our feet and they moved the nozzle around our feet. Vacuuming while you have customers eating is also terrible. Let's see they are batting a big fat 0(zero). Please take my advice don't waste your money on terrible service and...

Which puzzles me because I've eaten at restaurants with one and a half or two dollar signs and the food was phenomenal, the meal I had here was marginal at best. I ordered the beef stroganoff which was $15.95 and while the portion was decent and the beef Chunks were plenty tender it was not the traditional Beef Stroganoff that's typically served with the brown gravy and sour cream mixed in on top of buttered egg noodles. I know of at least three local restaurants I can get this dish for $12.95 or less it's made the traditional way as stated above, not with a white Alfredo style gravy. I had the chicken noodle soup it was nice and hot and tasty but I didn't find much chicken in it. Others commented about the individually wrapped rolls in the bread basket, I actually think that's a good idea it cuts down on waste and the rolls stay nice and fresh a lot longer, the rolls I got in my basket were bakery fresh and soft..... Purrfect. My server was very attentive and made sure my ice tea was full and checked up on me several times during my meal, very nice. I SO wanted to give this restaurant more stars, but unfortunately......price does not reflect the final product. While it wasn't horrible, it wasn't the best either.....which doesn't warrant the high prices they command. This is my first visit at this restaurant and I haven't had lunch or breakfast here, so my review is based solely on my dinner experience. In a nutshell...... The service was excellent, the meal was fairly decent, the restaurant and washrooms were clean and well-stocked, and the dining room was nicely styled and welcoming, but the prices were severely overwhelming....... Especially when there's so many small mom-and-pop restaurants struggling that serve excellent Homestyle food for a lot less money and get overlooked because of the way they look inside or out. Folks, those little GEMS like Fred's Place are my favorite places to visit.....and they never disappoint....

After waiting for a couple of minutes, (restaurant was at about 60% capacity at 11:00 A.M.) we were rudely told by the manager/hostess to wait and she walked away. That was our welcome! No greeting at all like "Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays"or even "Hello." I passed it off as being busy and it's the Holidays, so... Our server was ok and we had coffee, orange juice, steak skillet, and pork chops with eggs. The food was below-average compared to where we typically go, and nothing special.
When I went to the register to pay, the manager took my payment without a word. I said "have a great day" and I might as well have been trying to converse with a wall. It was clear she was going out of her way to make us feel unwelcome and she succeeded! Maybe you have to be a member of their club to feel welcome? Our check total was about $45 so the price point for a "meh" meal served with horrible attitude from the management= poor value and deserves zero or "0" stars.
I'd rather support businesses that welcome and appreciate my business and the manager / hostess of this establishment failed miserably. We won't let this experience at Palatine Inn discourage us from exploriing and trying new restaurants, but I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND Palatine Inn to my friends and family as I would hate to see them treated the same way or worse by this person.
We'll stick to our favorites; Brunch Cafe, Firstwatch, Honey Jam Cafe, and Wildberry where the food is consistently delicious and we feel welcome.
We work hard to enjoy some luxuries in life and extremely disappointed in the experience at Palatine Inn and would not...
