Denny's — Restaurant in Palestine

We waited a full hour to get our order. Then, it was all wrong. I asked for over easy eggs and the were fried until the yolk was hard boiled. My French Toast was a camouflage of bread toasted in toaster "crispy" then sprinkled with cinnamon and brown sugar. I could hardly believe someone would try to pass that off as French Toast. My brother order a chopped steak that was suppose to come with onions and bell peppers and for some strange reason BBQ sauce. He asked for brown gravy instead. He ordered mashed potatoes and gravy and broccoli. His mashed potatoes were cold, he got French fries instead of broccoli and there were no onions or bell peppers on the plate. Let me make this clear - our waiter did his job satisfactorily and our terrible experience was not his fault. I immediately sent my food back and said it was not eatable. And I reiterated we had been there over an hour at this point. We still had four more hours to drive to our destination and did not have more time to waste. So, I asked to speak with the Manager. I was told she was busy in the kitchen working as the line cook and unable to speak with us at the moment. A few minutes past when I took $10 bucks out of my purse and said to my brother - "This is for the pot of coffee and the rest is tip for the waiter. I think that is more than fair." I stood up to leave when the Manager approached us. She acted as though she was unaware of our concerns. When I explained she replied, "I apologize for not getting your order right. i'm happy to take 20% off your meal. Is that acceptable?" I responded, "Really? No that is not. Here is $10 bucks for our coffee and tip and you need to write the rest off. Neither of us took more than a single bite because it is horrible" She apologized and we left. I previously left a 5 star review that I've removed. What led me to remove that review is that the past few times my mother and I have stopped to eat the food has been terrible, sometimes almost inedible, but the last straw was on April 3rd. My mother and I walked in and the lady at the counter told us to sit wherever we liked and motioned to the area towards the store. The front booth closest to the door and the back booth closest to the store were open. We chose the back booth. The lady brought menus and said our waitress would be with us shortly. Meanwhile a lady with a couple children came in and sat in the front booth. We had been there about 15 minutes at that point. The waitress proceeded to get their drinks and then came back to take their order. My mother finally managed to get her attention and she told us that she was the only waitress and she would be back to get our order. We told her that we had been sitting there for a while and had come in before the lady in the front booth. Her response was to say that, like she said, she was the only waitress. She then went to the back around a corner and had a conversation with another employee and then came back out and proceeded to refill people's coffee and other drinks. We finally got up and walked out after we had sat there for about 30 minutes. We were never even served drinks. Our business was obviously not needed. I can’t really give them five stars because I mean come on… It’s Denny’s.. But I will tell you this… The food was great and the service was outstanding..

I called about 10 minutes before I got there and placed my order after looking at their menu on the app on my phone… I think I ordered the Grand Slam Slugger… But I’m not sure..

Walked in the door and had my food on my table in about 45 seconds later… I have to say… It was pretty cool not having to wait… I think I’ll be doing this a lot in the future..

Can’t really tell you too much about the cleanliness of the place, or the little things that people usually complain about on these reviews… I was pretty tired and not really paying attention anything other than my plate… My plate was just fine… However… I did not notice anything obvious to distract me while I was eating..

Don’t remember my waitresses name but I gave her a decent tip because she did an awesome job… I guess I left there right around midnight because as I was headed out the door she made the comment to her coworker that it was not her birthday… Wished I would’ve known that before I would’ve thrown a little extra money.. Oh well… I’m sure she does fine if she treats everyone the way she treated me…

I pass by this place all the time when I’m traveling back and forth and I can guarantee you that I will be stopping here a lot...
