Came here on Friday for my sister’s birthday. I’ve always passed by this restaurant but it was our first time here. We were a group of 11 people, seating wasn’t the comfiest but we made it work. We all started with some Soopo Baam which was soju and fruit cocktail with a bottle of corona dunked in (strawberry or mango). Our favorite was the strawberry one. We decided to share everything instead of getting individual meals. We got two orders of the bulgogi nachos, two orders of the spicy rice cake, two orders of corn cheese, cheese buldak, two orders of french fries, sweet & sour pork, two orders of fried dumplings, spicy cold noodle, Army Stew, and sweet & spicy chicken.
The bulgogi nachos weren’t good, it got to the table very cold so the cheese and meat didn’t taste good and all the chips were stuck together. The spicy rice cakes had potential but the rice cakes were over cooked and super soft. The corn cheese was very very good, at first we only got one but then ordered another. The cheese buldak was sooo good melted cheese on one side and spicy chicken on the other 9/10! It says it's extreme spicy but it's not, if you're okay with regular spice, you’ll be fine. The french fries were also a hit, very crispy. The sweet and sour pork was also very good, the pork was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, the sauce was my fav. The fried dumplings were tasty 9/10. My favorite out of everything was the spicy cold noodle 10/10. The Army Stew had spam, sausage, kimchi, ramen, and cheese; 8/10 was good but hard to eat with a group and not enough ramen for the amount of broth. We had also ordered rice balls with seaweed but they said after the fact that they had burned all the rice so we didn’t get to try that. The sweet and spicy chicken was okay (it was a whole chicken cut up), some pieces were good but most of the pieces I had were all small bone parts so I wouldn't order it again.
Throughout the night we ordered Peach, Grape and Yogurt Soju. The atmosphere inside was cool; dark inside with loud music. Nice place for a random night out if you want to eat and get drunk with friends while sitting down. We got a cake from Paris Baguette and they were kind enough to bring it out with sparklers and candles (no extra charge). They also brought out three bottles of complimentary sojus. The whole staff was very welcoming and sweet. We didn’t only have one waiter so anyone who passed by was able to help us with whatever we needed. They close around 2 am which is a plus. While leaving I saw they had outdoor tent seating, but it was much more calm and quieter than the inside. Will definitely...
Read moreEver since my Korean friends recommended this restaurant, I’ve been here five times! This time, I visited during lunch. The lunch menu is slightly smaller than dinner, but the variety is still impressive (the dinner menu boasts around 100 dishes—it’s like tasting all of Korea in one place!). My friends and I ordered a few classic dishes this time, and here’s my review for each of them! 📝
🥢 1. Fried Pork Cutlet (돈까스) Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the golden crust is perfectly crunchy and satisfying with every bite, while the meat remains juicy and tender—never dry! Paired with a classic Korean sauce that’s slightly sweet and savory, it delivers pure happiness for your taste buds. If you love fried food, this is not to be missed!
🥢 2. Sizzling Kimchi Stir-fried Pork Belly (김치 삼겹살 볶음) Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This dish is a game-changer for rice lovers! The tangy, spicy kimchi and fatty pork belly sizzle on the hot plate, creating a mouthwatering aroma that makes you drool. The pork belly, perfectly balanced between lean and fatty, is rich and flavorful. Mix it with white rice, and it’s perfection on a plate!
🥢 3. Korean Spicy Braised Ribs (매운 돼지갈비찜) Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The meat is tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice that’s both bold and satisfying. The slightly sweet sauce makes it super appetizing. The ribs are so soft they melt in your mouth—no need to gnaw at all. If you love meat and bold flavors, this dish is a must-try!
🥢 4. Korean Cold Noodles (냉면) Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The perfect refreshing dish to cleanse the palate! The noodles have just the right amount of chewiness, served in an icy, tangy-sweet broth that’s ideal for balancing out rich, heavy dishes. Especially with the restaurant’s warm heating inside, the contrast of eating cold noodles is a perfect treat!
🥢 5. Korean Beef Short Rib Soup (갈비탕) Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The broth is incredibly rich yet light, with beef short ribs cooked to tender perfection. Every sip of the soup warms you from the inside out. Simple vegetables and glass noodles make this a comforting, authentic Korean dish, perfect for those who prefer lighter flavors.
🥢 6. Spicy Seafood Soft Tofu Stew (해물 순두부찌개) Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolute winter must-have! The broth is spicy and packed with umami, with silky soft tofu and fresh seafood flavors blended into every spoonful. It’s the ultimate comforting dish to warm you up from head to toe...
Read moreI wasn't going to share this place with anyone because I don't want it to get crowded but I have to bc I love it so much. Presenting my new watering hole in Bergen! The location is where the old 21 used to be, on the top floor of the Son Jjajang building.
Great happy hour everyday 4-8!! It's a steal considering how good the food is. Happy hour all types of soju are $8.99 and beers are cheap too. All the big dishes on the happy hour menu are between $14-$18 and I think the portion sizes are the same! I have yet to try something that I don't love on the menu.
Their: Cheese buldak (fire chicken w/ mozzarella cheese.. ask for medium spicy if you can't do heat!) Jogae sujebi (Korean version of.. gnocchi? in clam broth..I always order another side of sujebi) Donkatsu (breaded & fried pork cutlet) Tofu & kimchi Ddukbokki (spicy rice cakes... I usually ask for cheese on this also lol) Tong dak (whole fried chicken) Gaeran mari (Korean cheese omlette w/ fried garlic on top) Budae jjigae (Korean army soup, goes great with soju!) and weirdly enough their giant plate of FRIES (idk what they do to those fries they're just fries but they're so good lol) are among some of my favorites. However, the food tends to be on the spicier side which isn't an issue for me, but if you can't handle too much spice be sure to tell your waiter. I can't say enough about how good the food is. The chef apparently refuses to use anything but the best ingredients and it shows in the taste of the food. Portions are big too! Obviously I eat here a lot... lol
Oh and the servers and manager are all so nice!! One time we had a big party of 10 but they didn't have space so they put us in their only karaoke room in the back. We wanted to watch the US Open but we couldn't figure out the TV in the room so the manager found an HDMI cable and hooked his own cellphone up to it so we could watch. How sweet?!!
At the moment they only serve soju and beer but I have been told that they will start offering liquor soon :) Like I said, I don't want this place to get crowded but they deserve the business with food and service like this. I hope they stick around and become a new staple in Pal Park!
PS. The menu is entirely in Korean so bring a friend who is fluent or ask the waiters for suggestions! I will definitely have to mention to them that they should make an English version of their menu. Will be back with...
