Salon 9 — Local services in Palisades Park

I was here two months ago and got a great haircut by Michelle and I loved it. I comeback after and made a reservation with her again and the woman at the counter named Kate took my reservation instead. I asked when I walked in if the person cutting my hair was going to be Michelle and the woman said nothing. I thought maybe she didn’t hear me but that the person cutting it was Michelle like I specified. I showed her the exact image reference I used last time and I was given a much shorter haircut. I asked for my hair to be a little shorter but I went from tying most of my hair in a bun to not being able to tye any of it up. Keep in mind I have been growing my hair for over a year and now I have to regrow all of the progress that the women cut off. Not to mention she was having multiple conversations during my haircut and didn’t ask how many inches I wanted to cut off and went ahead for it without a word. I called to ask for who cut my hair and she said it was Kate and once I said I wanted a refund for messing up my hair and ignoring what I said and she refused. Now I have to wait over a year with a haircut I don’t enjoy when I made an appointment specifying who I wanted online and in person and now I have to deal with it. Make sure you call to double check to not make a mistake like this for yourself even when you specify it online...

Not sure why this salon has so many bad reviews, but I personally had a great experience as a first time customer. Tbh, I was a bit worried after reading all the negative reviews on yelp, but after seeing how good my friends keratin treatment came out, I decided to give them a shot. I actually just washed and dried my hair after the three day waiting period, and my hair looks great - super healthy and straight!

Btw, I normally get my annual keratin treatments at another more upscale Korean salon in the area, but the last two times, my hair came out super fried and not what hair should look like after a keratin treatment, so I’ve been looking for a new salon. I would totally recommend this place for a keratin treatment. It’s at a great price point and only took two hours (I have long hair). Ask for Kate - she did my hair and she was awesome. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. This has to be the ABSOLUTE WORST hair salon in the area. I want to give this place negative stars I’m so upset. My mom went and had such a terrible experience she was almost crying and she’s a tough woman. She went to get a trim and perm and they treated her extremely poorly, especially the lady at the counter and manager. They pull you in with the cheap prices but its all a scam. They charge hidden fees and just tell you to pay. Not only did they not trim her hair the way she wanted but the perm didn’t even work. They burned her hair so badly, her hair is now constantly frizzy when dry. Not even a single apology from any of the staff. On top of that, they didn’t even offer a refund or discount at all.
