My move to Palm Coast in 2013 led to a culinary revelation: the Far East grocery store. It's more than a supermarket; it's a vibrant global food market offering an astonishing range of ingredients rarely found elsewhere in the area. I'm writing to share my enthusiastic recommendation. The store’s focus on Eastern and Southeastern Asian cuisine is exceptional, extending far beyond typical supermarket fare. They stock an incredible variety of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai products, from rare spices to everyday staples, all of consistently high quality. The selection doesn't stop there. They also have a surprising and impressive array of Latin American and South Asian ingredients, including Mexican, Costa Rican, Caribbean (Jamaican and Dominican), and Indian items. The sheer breadth of their inventory is simply astounding. For ramen lovers, this is paradise. Their collection of instant ramen from around the world is quite extensive. I regularly stock up on Jasmine and short-grain rice, Szechuan peppercorns, Ramen and sesame oil, all at remarkably reasonable prices. The frozen section is equally impressive, brimming with dumplings, bao, wontons etc. – perfect for quick, delicious snacks or meals. Our culinary adventures have been significantly enhanced by the quality ingredients and diverse flavors available at Far East. The fresh produce section is a standout, featuring both common & unusual fruits and vegetables, many locally sourced. I was delighted to find Kaffir lime leaves, a crucial ingredient for Panang curry, I’d been searching for. Beyond the staples, they offer an extensive selection of noodles, boba supplies, teas, and countless other culinary treasures. The sheer abundance often results in an overflowing shopping cart and a derailed “strict list” – a delightful problem, indeed! While navigating the extensive selection can feel like a treasure hunt, it adds to the store's unique charm. The staff are generally friendly. My only regret is the absence of their fresh sugarcane juice machine – I hope it returns soon! I truly enjoyed the freshly pressed juice over ice and look forward to its reappearance. In short, Far East is an exceptional grocery store with an unparalleled selection and a vibrant atmosphere. I wholeheartedly...
Read moreLove, love, love!!!! I have been obsessed with this store since moving to Palm Coast almost 6 years ago! They always have a variation of fresh foods and specialty items that are hard to find anywhere else or incredibly overpriced in other places like boba teas, and various snacks that would cause triple at world market. Their food is always fresh and very reasonably priced. You can get whole jackfruit there which is something I've not seen in many other places, especially since moving to Florida. They whole sugar cane. They also have a huge selection of rice seasonings, herbs, herbal teas, and sauces! If you get hungry while shopping and can't wait til you get home, their new restaurant is amazing! I always either grab something from the hot bar at the checkout line if I'm in a hurry where there's always ready to go goodness. But on days I have extra time the restaurant can't be beat! So far I've tried the pad Thai, drunken noodles, roasted duck Raman, pork belly, and pho... I can't start to pick a favorite. I've never had pork belly so crispy! Is it too late to mention that the owner and all the employees are the nicest people you'll ever meet? He asks about my mom every time I see him! And everyone else are all equally friendly...
Read moreI'm still reeling from a shocking experience at this store. As a loyal customer, I've been buying soursops from them for over a year. However, my latest purchase of a large quantity turned out to be a disaster. Despite appearing normal on the outside, every single fruit was rotten inside.
Assuming the store would acknowledge their mistake, I returned the soursops expecting a refund. But to my astonishment, they flatly refused. "We're not giving you your money back," they said. I was taken aback and asked why, especially since I'd purchased the soursops just two days prior. Their response was unyielding, leaving me feeling frustrated and disappointed.
I'm sharing my disappointing experience in the hopes that it will serve as a warning to others, helping them make more informed decisions before choosing to shop at...
