EDITED....read full review.....bought my Mom a new Living Room Set. Upon reading the other reviews, it was pretty easy to determine who Traci was (at first she assumed I was in the employ of the Psychic Friends Network when I guessed her name). She has a very low key sales manner, no pressure, quick with information about various furniture in the store...perfect demeanor and personality for a great Saleswoman.
This isn’t a lavish furniture showplace, but has a good selection of styles and colors to sample and make a solid informed decision. Truth be told, a lavish show room often equates to a lavish price....I’d rather pay a little less to shop in an adequately comfortable setting like this where the emphasis is on the Customers needs and the Products they sell.
In the end, we decided on a Leather powered- recline set. Was happy to learn the Labor Day Sale was still going on...the Price was more than the internet ultimately, but I chose to do business with a local company.
BUT.....once the furniture was delivered (early was a nice surprise) it was immediately apparent the Couch, Loveseat, and Chair wouldn't all fit in the living room. Within an hour of delivery, we contacted the store to return just the Recliner, which still had the tags attached to it. I was immediately Informed of a 25% restocking fee for the return, and a $49 charge to pick up the Chair. I chose to do business here specifically to avoid hassles like this if there were any problems, figuring it would be much simpler to handle a return with a store 1 mile away than some faceless internet Company.
I was wrong, and if I had it to do over again I would have taken my chances and saved some money on the internet. Several Internet places offer White Glove delivery and free returns with no re-stocking fee for the exact same set we purchased at a lower price.
I had a positive experience coordinating the return with Traci, who is a true asset to the company, But that only goes so far, as her hands were tied by poor corporate return policy. I didn't mind paying a little extra if I was going to get a superior customer experience and support, but the Restocking fee and charge to pick up the recliner really rubbed me the wrong way. We were suppose to have our furniture delivered on a Saturday (2 weeks after we ordered) & our couch was set to be delivered 6 weeks later cause it was “special ordered”. I work during the week and they said no problem on the Saturday delivery. Well when Friday Came I called to confirm my order was being delivered cause I haven’t heard anything, now it was they don’t do Saturday deliveries, really? So we set it up for Tuesday 12-6 I took the day off of work and at 530 no lie I got a call the truck broke down. So they ended up delivering it Wednesday at about 8 at night, and that was after I called and complained. Everything was ok but noticed they forgot the box spring to one of the beds, so they came back out Thursday delivered that but it didn’t even match the mattress brand. Even the guys delivering said Home Design is the worst. After all that my couch arrived, now mind you I was at work, I get home and it looks NOTHING like the couch I wanted at the store. So I call the next day and they give me some reason that blew my mind. The couch I ordered was another kind of leather. I was confused cause I picked the color from the exact couch I wanted which was on the floor for show. She tells me well I didn’t know you wanted that leather, we have 2 different types. Really because you never told me that in the store. I saw the floor model and said I want that same exact couch and she ordered it while not saying one thing about changing the kind of leather is was. Then I told her I want it changed or refunded which she replied there’s no refunds or changes on “special orders” she would be willing to give me the floor model if I paid another $600, or $900 more for a new one and it would take 6 weeks, really? I just spent $8000 on furniture from you guys. DONT GO HERE....
   Read moreI went here with my two children today and the layout of this place was all over the place. Over crowded and hard to move around other than the straight path provided. The lady there greeted me and my two kids the moment we got there which was the only nice thing about this visit. She quickly started to show me around to some furniture pieces after asking me firmly if I wanted reclining or not reclining. I told her I wasn't sure at this point in time that we were looking around right now. She then asked me, well you have to know if you want reclining or not. I said I guess reclining. So she walked us over to a small love seat and I said my family will need something bigger than that. She said it can be bigger you need to pick a material you like first. I said I wasn't sure maybe I just need to look around to really find out what I like. So I started off to the next area and she said I'm trying to show you what all we have. I said I'm really just wanting to look around right now and get a feel for what I want to get but thank you. So she said here look at this it's all of what we have. So I picked up my daughter and my son followed and said I think we are just going to go. She was over the top pushy and made for a very bad customer experience. I politely asked to look around but she quickly became the thorn in my shoe pushing me to look at all they have to offer and telling me I have to know what I want. I truly disliked this solely because of that woman. She was way to overbearing. I'm sure the products are great, she is the reason I won't purchase from there.
