A Taste of Peru and Colombia, a Warmth of Soul: A Review of Mi Cultura Peruvian Colombian Cuisine by Gilly.
Forget the standard, forget the predictable. Mi Cultura Peruvian Colombian Cuisine isn't just another restaurant; it's a portal to vibrant Peru and Colombia, a tapestry woven with culinary artistry and heart-warming hospitality. My taste buds did a salsa, my soul sang a condor, and I left not just full, but embraced by the infectious spirit of this hidden gem in Coachella Valley, located in Palm Desert.
Let's start with the food, a fiesta for the senses. The Peruvian Empanada, a golden crescent moon filled with cheesy, beefy goodness, was an appetizer revelation. Each bite was a burst of flavor, perfectly complemented by their tangy green salsa, a delightful tango of spice and herb. And then came the Lomo Saltado the surf and turf one unlike any I've encountered. Tender beef and succulent shrimp waltzed with a rainbow of vegetables on accompanied with jasmine rice, each mouthful a unique melody of Peruvian spices that made my eyes widen and my heart sing. It was a 10/10, no question.
But Mi Cultura is more than just the food on your plate. It's about the people who put it there, and oh, what a story they tell! The owner, with a smile as warm as a Peruvian sun, wasn't just there to take orders. He became a guide, a storyteller, weaving tales of Peruvian and Colombian culture into every recommendation. He wasn't just selling food; he was sharing a piece of his soul, and it made all the difference. He took his time, sat with me, and answered my curious questions about the origins of each dish, his words as rich and flavorful as the food itself.
The atmosphere thrummed with a contagious energy. The staff, as lively as a conga line, danced between tables, their attentiveness a constant hum. They weren't just servers; they were hosts, ensuring every guest felt like part of the familia. A constant "how's the food?" here, a "try this salsa with your next bite" there, they made sure the joy extended beyond the plate.
I left Mi Cultura not just with a satisfied stomach, but with a full heart. I was the last one out, lost in conversation with the owner, his story of triumph over adversity as inspiring as the food on my plate. He welcomed me not just as a customer, but as a friend, and that's what made this experience truly extraordinary.
So, if you're looking for a dining adventure that goes beyond the ordinary, a place where the food is a fiesta and the hospitality a warm embrace, look no further than Mi Cultura. It's not just a restaurant; it's a Peruvian/Colombian paradise, a taste of culture, and a testament to the magic that happens when passion meets plate. I, for one, can't wait to return for another helping of both the food and the friendship....
Read moreAmazing food, great atmosphere, but I wish my waitress didn't lie to my face when I read the menu and tell me my meal didn't come with what it's suppose to come with like she thinks I'm dumb. I told the waitress my fries were missing and she told me she would check the menu to see if it comes with the fries for the lomo en su jugo then came back and told me it didn't. I paid for mine and my friends meal, 65 with a 5 dollar tip. Right after that, I reread the menu and under chefs special it read lomo en su jugo which comes with fries and French bread. I paid for what I paid for and it's not even that but it's the fact that she lied to me it pisses me off. And I paid for my meal in full even left a tip. If she wouldn't have lied and just told me they don't want to make them or something I'm a very cool guy I would've been like its good the meal was great anyways, but she lied to me like I can't read and check the menu myself, like she thinks the customers are dumb or something. I just felt like she looked at me as if I was a fool and I didn't like it at all. Could've just been honest and this could've been avoided. Forget the fries I just don't like that she lied to me like she thought I was dumb. How many other customers you be doing that too? It was the pretty waitress with glasses, the nice colorful bow in her hair, she seemed really nice but I don't know why...
Read moreMy wife and I decided that we were going to try out this restaurant after hearing quite a lot of good reviews about it. Neither one of us have had Peruvian or Columbian food so this is going to be our first adventure with it. Of course we started with the empanadas both the Peruvian and the Columbian version and they brought us a complimentary chicken soup which was fantastic. I had to spare ribs called Seco Norteno and my wife had a pulled chicken with potatoes dish called Aji de Gallina. We went early and before we finished our dinner every table was taken and there was an waiting line outside. We have plans to go back especially after talking to a Peruvian customer outside of the restaurant as we were leaving who gave us some suggestions for what we should try. I would tell you to go but I don’t want people to take my seat before I get there. Lol. We have plans to go back and try several new things and hopefully a couple old things too. Update: we went again with our daughters to go have a meal and try out the chicken The food was not too bad, but I think since it was getting late in the evening, and they close early on Monday. the chicken was a little bit on the dry side. We’ll have to try it...
