Had the worst dining experience at Ramen Musashi in palm desert today. The manager came over to my table to yell at me about the edamame. I had originally ordered 4 bowls of ramen , edamame, gyoza and pork buns. The waitress brings over the food and the edamame is covered in oil and fried garlic and stuff . I told her I was sorry but my kids only eat edamame with salt and could they make it plain . She says yes and brings out a plain edamame and the kids devour it. I order another and remind her to make it plain . The manager brings out the edamame with everything on it. I tell him I specially asked for plain . He says I can’t have it that way but the waitress comes over and says it was her fault. The manager comes back with edamame but it’s covered in oil and looks like they used a towel to wipe off all the extras . The kids try it and don’t like it. We finish dinner and the waitress asks if she can start clearing the table . I say sure and take the edamame also because my kids won’t eat it since it didn’t taste the same as the first . Not a minute later the manager says it’s not right for them to make 4 edamame and I only want to pay for 1. I’m telling him I never asked for it to be taken off the bill . He’s telling me then why would the waitress tell him that. I’m telling him that it didn’t look the same and the kids said it didn’t taste good . He’s telling me it was made the same and he saw it made. So I ask why would my kids lie? It didn’t look the same . He’s telling me it’s because the kids are full and I’m trying to not pay . I tell him again I never asked for it taken off and I tell him he’s a liar and didn’t see it made . So now we are yelling at each other. He’s telling me not to call him a liar and I tell him then don’t call my kids liars. He starts on again about how it’s wrong to order 4 and only pay for one. He tells me it’s wrong to come into a restaurant and make changes to a menu . I tell him their sushi restaurant serves it plain , but he says they are separate menus. I’m telling him then simply don’t accept the order and we wouldn’t have the problem. Just say they can’t make plain edamame. I’m telling him it’s rude and disrespectful to come over to my table and start yelling at me in front of my kids . . The edamame looked and tasted bad and I was planning on paying for it. Finally the waitress comes over and I asked her if I said I refused to pay for it. She said I never said that but assumed because we didn’t eat it. STAY away from the restaurant. it was totally wrong to yell at me in front of my children and the rest of the patrons. he could of handled it much better and got the complete story from the waitress before confronting me at the table. the waitress was great but the owners arrogance and anger issues are too great to...
Read moreIm surprised this place doesnt have straight 5 stars. Some of rhe reviewers on here are nitpicking and making complaints about portion size, really? I'm a 270 pound man and the Ramen is plenty. Add an appetizer and you will be surely stuffed. Are these people like wanting some ridiculous size portion to have takeout for the next day or piled high with unwanted calories of breads and fountain soda restaurants do to fill you up instead of giving you the food that you want. I wouldn't have noticed that since I just do water and no bread at restaurants and have left hungry at some.
You come here and you're getting straight up quality Ramen right away . If you're coming to a Ramen shop not getting Ramen why are you coming and why are you reviewing it, it's a freaking Ramen shop.
The place is authentic Japanese from the decor to the food to the staff and the cooks to the Japanese soda drink and the amazingly polite Japanese service you don't get at any other ethnic restaurant including American. Multiple times they asked me if I needed any thing and if I was doing OK meanwhile other places you'd be lucky if they drop by once and give you the bill before your first bite! The food came out extremely quickly given the nature of Ramen they even have a second person help put out the dishes if there's a party of four for even faster service. Extremely tentative, it's clean comfortable and yeah the little robot adds a little extra. The Ramen is absolutely excellent I haven't found a better place. And whenever I have come it's never been that busy which I just figured not too many people are into Ramen. If you love Ramen and excellent service, you'll...
Read moreAtmosphere: Very friendly! Everyone was very attentive and welcoming. The only thing that I wasnt to happy about was that I could hear every single conversation that was happening in the kitchen. I should mention that we arrived as soon as they opened so we were the only ones there. A majority of the time they spent gossiping(dont get me wrong i love a little gossip). It was just really loud.
Food: we ordered steam buns and the musashi tonkotsu ramen. The ramen was a 6.5 out of 10. The noodles were tasty and fresh. Ive personally never had thin noddles in ramen but it did not disappoint. The broth was a little salty but still ok. I didnt like the marinated bamboo or the kombu seaweed. It definitely overpowers the ramen. The steam buns were a solid 7 out of 10 good but strong. Im not 100% sure what it was but it did have something very strong like horseradish. It had a little too much instantly made my eyes water. The pork was very tender.
Overall: I LOVE me some ramen so much that I drive 1 hour and 55 min for my favorite ramen place. I only pay 10.50 for a large bowl of tonkatsu ramen at HiroNori craft ramen but here i paid 14 for an average size bowl. Considering that were in the valley its been the best ramen spot locally. This is a newer restaurant and has the potential to thrive they just need some time for growth. With that in mind I do think eventually...
