It was 110 degress Saturday July 2, and Barbara Ann was the kind, friendly blonde woman who smiled and mimed the gesture I’ll be right back with the key to let you in this (wrong, locked) door rather than the gesture-with-scowl to Walk around the perimeter building and come in the Entrance. That gave me a bit of a theatrical entrance, and we all started off as friends so I thank Barbara Ann for that.

Barbara Ann is the stage name I gave to this MF colleague because I neglected to get her real name, and because the Beach Boys’ Barbara Ann played happily while I debated how to handle this credit.

SLEEP EXPERT JAYNIE

If you were an employer, you would want to hire Jayne because she was on task. She had a clipboard in her hand, was friendly, and served me an ice-cold Dr. Pepper on a hot desert day. Most importantly, she found me the Serta Beautyrest PressureSmart Lux, the mattress of my dreams that I am now sleeping on.

MANAGER TRISTAN

Dreams do come true, but they’re never cheap. Enter Tristan, the manager, to make my dream of owning the 1000-Coil Lux Extra Firm Mattress Ownership come true. Tristan has the full complement of sales and closing skills, but he used them only fairly and appropriately.

I felt respected and valued by the deal Tristan offered me -- the floor model, for a price that brought the Lux just into my price range. Tristan was being a good guy here. His offer earned my unqualified “yes.”

CAT-CALL CAT

• Before delivery, MF Communications Concierge called me.

• Her name was Cat.

• It was a Cat Call.

The Cat Call involved verifying and checking every delivery-related detail, and explaining the different ways I could check delivery status or ask a question. Cat did this competently and clearly.

The Cat Call also involved making sure I was happy with my purchase experience, customer service, and the PressureSmart Lux Extra Firm I had selected. This is where Cat surely shines because her genuine passion for the perfect night’s sleep comes through.

Cat has personality for days. She was enthusiastic, genuine, and committed. I really enjoyed and appreciated my Cat Call.

It was great in no small part to Janie. So we went to the location in cathedral city and got assistance from Janie. Answered our questions and was well informed of all the mattresses benefits in the store. She would occasionally walk to the back to do who knows what, but this gave us time to talk, try out the different mattresses, and give honest decisions about what did and didn’t work for us. I fell in love with a mattress/base combo but We left to think about it and not make any rushed decisions. (And she didn’t try to keep us in the store like other places do!)

The next day We called and asked for her by name but was told she was working at the palm desert location off Fred waring. We called Fred waring location and she told us she would be leaving in an hour. We dropped everything and rushed right over. She showed us a few more models as well as the different adjustable bases. We ended up upgrading our base because of the benefits, and she stayed past her shift without any complaint. So glad to have found her as a sales representative. We will be requesting her when we need another bed, and you should too if you are looking for an honest, professional, kind, friendly, thoughtful staff person who won’t force a costly tempurpedic ($5k mattress) at your face just for their gain. Moving into a new house and having a new baby at the same time can be very stressful. Finding out you also need a new mattress at the same time can set anyone over the edge. Well that is exactly what happened to my wife and me. We found this new Mattress Firm in Palm Desert and were helped by a salesman named Christian. After 30 minutes we had found a new mattress and box spring that Christian guaranteed delivery within 2 days. Needless to say the items arrived exactly as ordered the day before our baby was born. Being so ecstatic we decided to stop by Mattress Firm on our way home from the hospital, where Christian jumped up to greet my wife and our new baby remembering her by name. Feeling so welcomed into the Mattress Firm family we decided to buy another mattress that day. I can not stress enough the customer service demonstrated by Christian and Janelle the Manager, went way above and beyond willing to accommodate our new family. Definitely will be returning here for all of our future Mattress needs. Low pressure sales environment not trying to upsell or push unneeded products.
