My review should be taken with a grain of salt because I was there for a wedding reception that I didn't plan. I got the impression that they don't host them often, because they didn't really have a plan in place for using one server for the whole room and making sure nobody was skipped. They also didn't cut the cake for the party. instead, the bride's mother cut and served the cake. I had to ask for coffee near the end of service because two tables had it and the rest were bypassed.
As far as food was concerned, there were parts of the dish that were missing for every dish on our table. This complaint was mirrored for three other tables we spoke to, as well. The kids didn't get their promised fries until we asked, the steak had no mushroom sauce and tasted like char instead of seasoning or, you know, steak. It was perfectly cooked, however, so kudos to the actual grill chef. The green beans were awesome, as well, but the potatoes had zero flavor even after liberal salt addition. I had the haddock and although it looked like it had paprika on it and it tasted like butter upon butter, there was no flavor to it at all. I added the quarter of a lemon that was provided and still couldn't get a flavor profile to rise.
The drinks were delicious, so no complaints there. I had a chance to look at the regular menu (keep in mind we are in the middle of a pandemic) and their offerings looked like they should be tasty and it all fell in the category of what I would normally order. Steak, fish, lobster, pasta, all fun things. But if I had to decide whether or not to come back based on the food we were served at the reception, the answer would be a resounding no.
As far as the party room goes, it was a lovely stone walled room with a mirror all along one wall. We were perfectly distanced and masks are required if you weren't seated at your table. There are private restrooms for the banquet room, as well.
I would love to come back and try again, maybe after the virus stops rampaging through the country, but for now I think I'll keep my distance.
EDIT in response: Again, it was not my reception to plan or mess with. I believe the person who did plan it had enough in her hands without adding to the stress of a pandemic wedding. I appreciate that you would have preferred to know at the time, but the staff attending to us had plenty to do, there was only two, and I have worked in food service and retail way too long to be THAT customer. I was asked by Google to add my two cents and I did. I was honest and I do plan to come back and amend my opinion during normal business rather than this crazy time. I don't live here, though, so I can't come back to chat and make you feel better right now. Your servers were very kind and understanding and I can only hope they are being compensated appropriately for taking the risks they do every day. Please have a fantastic rest of your summer and I hope your staff and family are able to...
Read moreI would give this zero stars if I could! 3 of us went in on Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend. We sat at the outside bar and planned to spend a few hours there with a few drinks and dinner.
We were the only ones at the outside bar for 1 hour. Dino, one owner, was behind the bar for at least half of our visit. This guy did everything to avoid making eye contact with us, never said hello, never said goodbye. Not ONE word from him the entire time we were there! And again, we were the only ones at the outside bar and Dino was literally 1 foot away from us! Unbelievable, right? But it gets even worse.
The othe guy from their cheesy marketing videos who always says "Ciao", was at the bar also during our entire visit. Not ONE word from him either! Thank goodness our server Kate, who actually has manners and knows good customer service because aside from the hostess, she was the only one who spoke to us.
Interestingly enough, last summer I had the exact same experience. However, last summer I went in alone on a Saturday night, sat the bar, Kate was my server and again, she was the only one that spoke to me. I was completely ignored last year by Dino and the other guy, so I guess this is typical behavior of how much they appreciate their customers.
So much for supporting local businesses. After this last experience, we left after 1 round of cocktails and an appetizer. We gladly took our business to another bar in Easton and enjoyed a wonderful evening.
Good luck Dino - maybe you shouldn't be in front with the public if you don't know how to speak to them or show your appreciation. Same goes for the other guy that you prop up in your videos. And there was some other older gentleman that was making a few drinks behind the outside bar also. He didn't have a logo shirt on, so who knows if he even worked there. But it doesn't really matter being he didn't speak to us either!
So if you want to patronize a business that shows absolutely ZERO appreciation for the few customers that do come in, by all means, go hang at the bar and be ignored also. As for me, all I can say...
Read moreThe atmosphere was quaint and staff was somewhat friendly. It was my fiance's birthday so I treated her to a night out. We were both in search of a good restaurant with exceptional seafood cuisine. Sadly, i did not find one here.
I will say our waitress was friendly, but after receiving our meal, she never returned until it was time for the check. The meal I ordered left much to be desired. I ordered a glass of the house Pinot, which was very good. My appetizer was the soup du jour and chef special, the cream of cailiflower. Though the texture was on par for a cream soup, there was little to no taste of the actual cauliflower, but plenty of salt to taste. For my entree, I ordered the "Classic" Paella, which happened to be not so classic. Again, the salt was heavy handed..... not sure why the need for so much salt in a seafood dish. The rice was an attempt at a Risotto, and way under cooked. Not at all pleasant or appealing when eating a $30 entree. The rice was actually crunchy. The shrimp not only seemed as though it was placed in the dish as an afterthought, but it was extremely overcooked, and the squid, a little more chewy than I prefer. I will say that the only part of this dish that was worth eating were the clams. I'm not sure why this was called a "classic" because it was very far off the mark.
My fiance was happy with her fish, but her risotto was over-cooked and her entire meal was also heavy handed with salt. Maybe the heavy salt is to get their patrons to drink more? Whatever the reason, at the end of the day, it was definitely not worth the $101 for 2 glasses of wine, an app, and our 2 entrees. I could have spent much less than that at many restaurants and been much more satisfied.
Find another place to eat. The chef apparently wants you to believe he's selling you a Gordon Ramsey menu with elevated meals, where the only thing elevated is the price, In reality you'll get flavors on par with your usual diner.... very...
