We had an odd experience there and won’t be back. Before ordering, we asked the server to explain the difference between the regular stir fry dishes and the Vietnamese specialty sautes. He said the specialty dishes had a heavier sauce. My husband said he doesn’t like spicy dishes and wanted to know if they were spicy. The server said the coconut dishes would be sweet, and the lemongrass dishes would be aromatic. They wouldn’t be spicy. My husband ordered the coconut chicken stir fry with no spice (neutral as the server said). When the dish was served, my husband took one bite and said it was spicy. We checked with the server who looked at his notes and said the dish was neutral. He said that eating the pickled carrots with it would ”mitigate” the spice. He also said he’d bring out some bean sprouts to “mitigate” the spice. My husband tried a couple more bites with those and still thought the dish was spicy. I then tasted the food and agreed that it was spicy (and I generally eat spicy foods). We call the server over again, and my husband told the server he couldn’t eat the dish and wanted to order something else even if we had to pay for it. The server took his order for the stir fry combo (no spice or neutral) and went into the kitchen. He came back a couple minutes later and said, “The chef advised me that we will charge you for both orders and we are packing up your order to take home.” At first, I was confused thinking that his second order was being prepared for take out, but then I realized he was talking about the food we thought was spicy. The impression we were left with was that the problem was my husband didn’t like the food and not that the food was too spicy for him. On the ride home, all four of us said the experience soured us on Demi’s. The food is good but not exceptional and certainly not worth the attitude of the staff. A simple, “We’re sorry you didn’t like the dish” would...
Read moreI was running late today and needed something to eat. I had a craving for Steak Pho and Spring Rolls. I called and asked if they could take my order ahead to have it ready, and they did, which I'm so grateful for... but I don't think I'll be back.
I didn't receive a straw with my drink. There was no hoisin sauce, no chili oil, soy sauce, napkins, no anything on the tables. I had to ask, which is not too bothersome but there was only 1 person and she was really busy. But they also didn't give me chopsticks? I didn't want to keep asking for things.
Now the food... the broth was good. The plate of bean sprouts, basil, and jalapeños was very, very small. The lime wedge was 1/4 of a slice - of a slice. Tiny. There was no cilantro. There was barely any onion in the soup at all, just noodles and steak. There was just enough steak, though. The bowl was also the smallest of any pho restaurant I've ever been to, and it was only half filled up. I've been to a lot of pho restaurants, and it was definitely small. The spring rolls were tasty but at 8 dollars, and again also small, with not enough peanut sauce for them.
I paid $30 for pho, a regular non-sweet tea, and some spring rolls. Just for 1 person. There's no way it should have been so much. The online menu wasn't that expensive. I ate, paid anyway, and left quickly.
They were nice to start my order before I arrived, but I think they definitely are cutting corners and have...
Read moreI'm giving it a two only because the waitress was nice. We wanted to go to our regular ramen place, Mitaka, but it was closed that day, so I made the mistake of checking on line reviews and we wound up here. We went in for lunch, hungry for pho and ramen. One chicken pho, one tonkatsu ramen. To say the noodles were bad would be an understatement. The pho noodles were so overcooked, they melted when I tried to chew them or slurp them. The chicken was processed. The pho noodles were almost on a par with what you'd get for fifty cents at your college dorm, only worse. And the pho liquid smelled strange - not spoiled, just strange. The advertised vegetables for both were notably absent. Don't get me started on the ramen pork. It was so tough and tasteless that it was completely inedible. Strongly do not recommend this place. The food is awful. The only reason the parking lot gets crowded is workmen on their break wanting a fast meal with loads of food cheap. This is from one of them, by the way. Go somewhere else. Oh, by the way. We felt bad for the waitress, because she asked how the meal was and we told her it had been awful. We didn't feel quite as bad when there was zero effort made to right things. Didn't expect our money back, but at least some sort of kitchen apology? Dessert? Any recognition...
