My first new place after many months of Covid lockdown. Wow what a way to start ... The place is on California Ave and the street is blocked for traffic so all seating is on the road, kinda European style. First all the covid sensitivity stuff - all staff wear masks, tables are at least 6-8 feet apart and there's sanitizer if you want.
We were a party of 6, so we tried many of drinks. The winner for us was Year of the Earth Dog, an excellent variation of a margarita. There's tamarind instead of orange liqueur. the combination was excellent. Kudos for an innovative mix. Others ordered Ryan Alexander, Chapulin, Love Machine ... all very good.
Achiote tortilla - served with most of their dishes, Wow, I've never had this before and needless to mention was blown away by the taste. Has a pleasant peppery flavor. Divine!
Appetizers: Empanadas, Queso fundido and we had to order the nachos. Entrees - I went with the tacos de carnitas - you get two and they bigger than a "street" taco. Would warn that if you have any of appetizers you won't be able to finish it. Others ordered the tacos del mar and maja lasagna.
The service was attentive and not intrusive. Accommodative when we wanted some customizations. I've been to Michelin star Mexican restaurants and I have to say these folks were better. There wasn't a single appetizer or entree we didn't like!! Highly...
Read moreSun of Wolf in Palo Alto is an absolute gem! We've dined here twice, and both visits have been nothing short of spectacular. From the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the incredible food, this place has quickly become one of our favorites.
A special shoutout to our server, Abraham, who went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. He was attentive, friendly, and made us feel so comfortable, even with our 1-year-old son in tow (which isn’t always easy!).
Now, let’s talk about the food—WOW. The chilaquiles are hands-down the best we've ever had, bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. The Cazuela de Chicharrón? Out. Of. This. World. Rich, savory, and absolutely unforgettable. And don’t sleep on the fried egg sandwich—it’s served on a brioche bun that’s basically a buttery cloud, elevating every bite to pure bliss.
Sun of Wolf delivers an experience that combines delicious food, outstanding service, and a cozy yet refined vibe. Whether you’re going out with family, friends, or even on your own, this is a place you’ll want to keep coming back to. We...
Read moreMy three friends and I went tot Sun of Wolf and I must say, it is not often I go some where and already wanting to go back to try more of the food. We had a veggie in our group so we ordered mostly veggie dishes but then had one meat dish to share. They do not have guac which was not missed. I always love small menus because things are usually great. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared. The tortillas were also very yummy. I have to admit that as a meat eater, I did not miss the meat in all these dishes, but still would love to go back and try each of the meat ones.
We had to share for 3 Queso Fundido -with mushrooms instead of chorizo Empanadas Camaron Taco verde Veggie Pazole
The cocktails were also super amazing.
In total it was about $150 for three of us but everything was super delicious. I need to come back to try more of the...
