Pepe’s in Hickory Hills has a daily buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for about $12.99 per person and around $3.99 for a fountain drink. It really is one of the best deals around. The buffet is on the smaller side, but the selections are solid. They have taco bowls so you can build your own taco salad, plus corn and flour tortillas and hard shells. There are simple options like ground beef and some family friendly items, and their Mexican dishes, especially the guisadas, have great flavor. The steak and chicken fajitas use quality meat and are seasoned well. Their chicken soup was excellent. I added a little rice from the buffet and a squeeze of lime and it hit the spot. They offer horchata as a drink option. Refills on that are not included, but fountain drink refills are. They also have a small dessert and fruit section with fresh fruit, pudding, different salads, and delicious buñuelos. If you ask, they will even bring out chocolate dipping sauce for your strawberries. The one thing I wish they had were labels or small descriptions by each item, maybe on the side or above the guard. It was the only part that slowed me down. The good thing is that their team members are quick to help and happy to explain anything you are unsure about, so there is still a very easy workaround. The service was great, the restaurant was clean, and the buffet stayed stocked the whole time. The atmosphere was calm, and I was able to get what I needed without feeling rushed. I enjoyed it so much that I am taking my whole family back. It is a smaller buffet, so keep that in mind, but for the price, it is an amazing value. If you are in Hickory Hills between 10 and 3, it is definitely worth checking out.

The waiter was very nice. The food was horrible. Bland meat with no flavor. Watery beans, and cold taco shells. I guess that’s what you get for $12.99 pop is $4. A waste of $101 with tip! I could have spent that money at Burger King and been happier. My kids ate one bite of the tacos and they spit it out. If you’re going to serve food at least season the ground beef and get rid of the old steak meat w added onions and tomato. You can tell it was reheated it was dry as hell. I’m so mad I wasted $100 . Tried to take my family for a decent lunch. Skip them and go to any other Mexican spot around.🥴😒

I was never a Pepe’s fan until Moving by this location. Came in for the half priced margaritas and I am now there once a week. Food is real authentic Mexican food, happy hour specials are a bonus. Prices are fair for the awful economy. The reviewers complaining about slow service clearly don’t get out much, staffing is an issue in EVERY industry since 2020. Maybe relax and enjoy your marg while you wait. The staff they do have work their butts off and are so polite and helpful- take a sec and tell them they’re doing a good job. If mistakes happen they are quick to rectify.

Some years ago this place had some good specials at the bar like half price Long island night and half price margarita night. After about a year of being a pretty regular customer at the drink special nights and ordering tacos to share while at the bar for a good time at a great price, they actually switched from delicious hand crafted drinks to these terrible premixed things with very little booze. It turned me off, I've been there maybe only 1-3 times since 2013. Yesterday, I went there with my family and got the buffet. It's normally 8.99 but it's 6.99 if you order a beverage they had domestic beers for 2.25 and the kids menu was nice for 5.49 a meal and it included Oreos or Teddy grahms at the end. One of my kids ordered cheese SAUCE with her nachos and got the melted cheese option by mistake. I asked if we could just have a side of the cheese sauce because we were in a hurry, but they made her her correct order lickity split. It was Sunday so they were busy with large families and the buffet was jumping but our waitress was ON POINT. Football was on all the big TV's in the area where they were seating the bigger groups too. For $50 I fed a family of five and got 3 beers. Amazing improvements. I'd...

Ordered Flautus dish, came with some red sauce on top with melted cheese. Waitress asked how things we're I said not good. Flautus weren't crispy they were soggy from sauce. She said they come that way. I said I've been coming here for years never had sauce on them. She says oh yes they always do,it says on menu.I Worked here13years.Time to pay. I pick up Menu and sure enough "Crispy " (not topped with sauce) This woman that been working there 13years can't find it on the menu. I took my finger and pointed to it and said it's right here and it don't say anything about topped with sauce and soggy.Still insisting she's correct. Wants to make me another 2 orders to go. NO THANK YOU ! Should have fixed it when I told you about instead of telling me I'm wrong . I've been frying flautus over 40 years. It use to be so good there. I use to always take my out of town guest there. 🙃 No More...Admit when my order is wrong and fix it anyone can make a mistake, but don't treat me like I don't know what and how a flautus is prepared and if I didn't the MENU tells you CRISPY !! SHE COMPED ONE DISH. Yeah ok so my granddaughters flautus sucked also .$20. For some rice and beans cause the flautus...
