I went to Shipley's the other day and it was a lot of people there, by far the nicest donut shop I have ever seen. But to me it is over priced and the donuts aren't all that great. The staff isn't bad, but normally donut shops warm up the donuts and at the time I was the only one in line, but yet they were in a rush and gave me cold donuts. For some reason I figured it would be warm because I guess I'm just used to the many DS Ive been to and the donuts were warm. The pig-in-the-blanket or kolaches as they call it, are way different from the ones I'm used to, I got one with cheese but I did not like it. I love cheese, but their "kolaches" with cheese have cheese around the lil smokey not inside, and it didn't have any flavor; not going to lie I was a little disappointed. It seems to me Shipley's has been around for a while and since Pantego is a small town that's all they're used to and support it which is fine, but the staff and pig- ahem excuse me "kolaches" needs...
Read moreMeh nothing special. They have a decent variety (about 1/3 sold out by 11AM). Staff were quick but not particularly friendly. $1.20 for regular round donuts. 2-3 small inside tables. I guess it comes down to what kind of donuts you like. The dough here is not very sweet, kind of dry, and dense. Not moist, not light or fluffy, not deep fried and no crunchy edges. Apple fritter had no apples and was like glazed cardboard. Sausage kolache roll had a lot of breading and a skinny hot dog in the middle. Probably the best thing here was the devil's food cake donut, which was surprisingly filled with a rich chocolate pudding (should have been called a "chocolate volcano" donut). I know some people love this place so they must be fans of less sweet and thicker, dense donuts. Glad we have lots of options in...
Read moreCustomer service has been steadily going down hill. Been coming to this establishment for years ordering the same thing, Cinnamon Roll with Maple syrup on top with nuts. They've ALWAYS have added the maple icing after cinnamon roll was done for years. Some workers up here DON'T want to do it & when I tell them they always done it they huff but end up doing it. Today the lady behind the counter says same ol same ol "we can't do it" I tell them "they've always done it" & she makes up some wild story about "cross contamination is why they can't do it" sooooo with what I took out it they rather loose a $30 sale then add maple icing to a cinnamon roll..cool they lost a customer & I'll just start going to the doughnut store around the...
