Nice atmosphere and the flavor of the catfish was good. However when the food arrived I asked where my other side was. He, the waiter, said it was coming. Finally we realized that he accidentally placed our plates incorrectly, but we had been talking and eating the food already. Yet he still suggested we just switch our fish and sides. I simply asked for my other side to come out when it was ready. No one should ever be asked to switch meals after being eaten from. Garlic fries tasted like diced garlic from the jar mixed with fries and dried parsley. Fish coating and flavor was on point. Okra was fried nicely and no slime. The peach beer was pleasing light and crisp.
After eating 1.5 of the fish filets that were good, I found a long dark and straight strand of hair fried into the fish. I then told our waiter that all the food was delicious, but there's a straight dark hair fried into the fish. He took my whole meal and said it would be taken care of. Didn't apologize for the hair, didnt have the manager or owner come by to apologize or anything. Also most of my okra and garlic fries had not been eaten and I still had 1.5 fish left before he took my meal. Needless to say im still hungry and didnt get to have my sides to go. I got the bill for the sides and other items I received. Im choosing not to return here because I felt like the waiter and management didnt feel strongly enough about their craft to personally apologize for the hair in my food or lack of food etiquette. Also being that I was still charged for the sides I was not able to take it home in a to go box. As one who has worked in food service from fast food up to high scale restaurants, I take it seriously how management deals with issues like this. You shouldn't ever suggest your customers switch food items on each other's plate, especially after they had begun to eat from them.
In the end I will repeat that the fish was good and okra was pleasing. The garlic fries were sub par, but the peach beer was a good choice for a warm Texas night. But the lack of food etiquette and hair fried into the fish was distasteful and leaves me choosing to respectfully not...
Read moreMy husband and I went there this past week while we were in Paris. We enjoyed the atmosphere and it was a decent place to go and eat. We got the fried green beans for an appetizer and enjoyed those. My husband would give them a four on this particular appetizer and I would pretty much have to agree with that. He said they were crispy, not greasy, and we both felt they tasted fresh. I was not overly thrilled with the dipping sauce they provided, but they did bring me some ranch dressing which I thought was better than some I’ve had, but definitely not the best I’ve ever had. I got their Tuna 🍣 Nachos on Wonton Chips. It looked really good, but the waitress actually took it back to the kitchen and brought me a new plate of it with the sauces on the side. I did not like the sauces that were on these nachos and the first batch was overwhelming with that taste. She was very nice about it and responded when my husband let her know I wasn’t overly thrilled with them after she asked us how we were enjoying our dinner. There was a part of me that hated sending them back, but there’s no way I would’ve really enjoyed those with the sauces. I did bring a bulk of it home and used my husband‘s sweet ginger sauce on it and it tasted MUCH better. I actually think if they used a sauce along this line, that it would enhance the flavor of this particular dish. My husband’s hamburger was surely plentiful in size, however, he said it looked better than it tasted. He said “ It was average tasting for a bacon cheeseburger and there wasn’t a lot of flavor to it.”
Overall, I think we had an enjoyable time and would probably go there again. I do not think we would order their hamburger or tuna nachos again, but both would probably order their fried green beans for...
Read moreDecided to make Paris, TX my lunch stop on my trip back home to Omaha from Galveston. I decided to stop at this place and I'm really glad I did! The waitress was super kind & explained the menu to me. The vibe of this place is very bohemian and modern. I love the concept! I was a bit skeptical at first that someone with a beret and thick rimmed glasses would mansplain the Craft beer menu to me or tell me to come see their band play this weekend but I was mistaken! The service was that of small town Southern Charm & down to Earth. No hipsters in sight. The food was phenomenal! I got the crab bites as an app. You can tell the tartar sauce was home made. For an entree I selected the CBR on Texas Toast with fries. The sandwich was hearty and the fries were nice and crispy. You could tell they were made from REAL potatoes. The sweet tea was perfect and - to my favorite part..... The blueberry cheesecake. I thought it was just going to be a prepackaged cheese cake from somewhere. Most restaurants I've been to recently are doing this. But no. That beautiful, blue, sweet slice of cheesecake was home made. And if it wasn't they did a damn good job at concealing the fact. It was so decadent I didn't want it to end and I will probably crave it specifically in the future. All in all this place is pretty great. The price point is extremely fair, too. All this costed me a mere 38$ (including tip!). The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because absolutely no one was wearing a mask and we are still in a pandemic. They could also sanitize the menus after individual use, too. A vaccine doesn't fix everything folks! I say if you're in Paris, TX and want good food, vibes and...
