I visited the bakery for the first time today. I was needing some pastries for a few of my in town clients. The bakery is very cute and had a very calm vibe. I was greeted by one of the workers that seemed like a manager or owner. She was able to accommodate my very last minute requests to create a few variety boxes. I also grabbed an iced latte that was pretty good. When the other worker rang me up and told me the total it seemed to be higher than I calculated but I assumed it was correct and went ahead and paid. I then asked for the receipt and she seemed to hesitate but asked if I would like it by email or text. Once I received the text and reviewed the receipt I noticed there was a $22 line item added as “add tip”. There were a few other people waiting behind me so I didn’t go right back to her to ask her why that was added. I decided I would wait for the other worker to bring my items. I thanked her for helping me out but then asked if they add a policy to add an auto 20% tip to all of their walk in orders. She said no that wasn’t the policy but tried to say depending on the order size. My total was approx $120 which was for 15 cupcakes, 6 slices of pie, and 7 loaves of banana bread. Keep in mind all of these items were already made, they just needed to be placed in boxes and bagged up. I have no issue leaving a tip but charging an auto tip and at almost 20% for a walk in order is quite egregious. The employee did ask if I wanted it returned and I told her no as it would cause an issue for my expense reporting to get reimbursed from work. I do feel like I was taken advantage of and I’m not sure what it was based on but definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. I even paid tax on the tip because it was added as a line item to my subtotal. To have a cash tip jar and a sign that even says “if you would like to tip when using a credit card please let us know” and then sneakily add a tip without asking the customer, is an awful way to do business. I really would like to give the business a second chance as everything looked delicious but not sure if I can do that after my...
Read moreFirst time to Paris Bakery was north of the square. This morning I went to its newer location south of the square w/ my daughters visiting from Austin & Minneapolis. The new digs are chic, cool, clean & comfortable. Collectively we ordered Avacado toast, Roast beef and cheese croissant, Yogurt & granola, Apple turnover, Cuevas de Diablitas pastry, Chocolate latte & 2 Carmel lattes. We enjoyed every item and each dish was so good we had to share a bite with our companions. Perfect atmosphere for a family meal. I'll be back. ••••••• Previously: 8 their "Margherita" pizza: housemade tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella & (most important of all) basil. Simple. Elegant. Tonight's desserts - chocolate pie & tiramisu. Fancy coffee drinks available or bottled/canned drinks. There were couples & families. Lively conversation. Historic high, molded ceilings. Beautiful & cool. Vintage prints & wall decor. Came on a cold (33℉) evening. They DO have outside courtyard dining & in warmer times, live music. Daily cook mouthwatering desserts & bread for sale. Good wifi. ツ...
Read moreUsually, this little bakery in Paris Texas delivers a great product! It's been a few years, prior to their move to the new location, but visiting recently we were disappointed on both occasions. They tend to sell out quickly on Saturdays for popular items which is a credit to their baked goods. The staff, however, seem to have other issues... On the first visit it took extraordinarily long to get our order... how long does it take to heat up a croissant? And they were lukewarm at best so had been obviously sitting on counter for a while. On our second visit, the lady taking orders could not even be bothered to acknowledge me standing in front of her for more than 10 mins while she plated other orders... a simple "I'll be right with you" would have sufficed. Needless to say, I left. Customer service should always come before profit. Fortunately, we have left this community permanently, and wish them the...
