Don't go there and expect to get a lot of meat in a meat dish. They are VERY STINGY about the amount of meat they serve you. Beware. I will never return to this place. From the service to food, everything was absolutely awful. I am extremely disappointed and it never used to be like this bad. If I could leave zero star, I would. The main issue my boyfriend and I had was that there was barely ANY meat in our dishes and they call it "with pork" and "with beef." I ordered #68 Denjang Jigae (spicy bean paste WITH PORK, tofu, and vegetables) and he ordered #36 Gopdol Bibimbop (mixed rice with an assortment of seasoned vegetables, GROUND BEEF, over easy egg, sesame oil. Served in a hot stone pot with spicy pepper sauce on side.) These are the descriptions of their menu, and we each got small few pinky size meat pieces in our dishes. When he got his bibimbop, his first word was "where is the meat?" I also looked at my soup and barely had any meat. It is very DECEPTIVE to call a dish that come with MEAT if all you get is A TEASPOON OF SCRAP MEAT. They should call it a "VEGETARIAN DISH" if they only gave you less than an ounce of meat in bibimbop or jigae soups. As far as the service, wow, they are very arrogant and snobby. I was appalled at how unprofessional their female manager responded when I addressed the above issues. All she kept saying was "This is the normal amount of meat we serve in our restaurant. " She did not even apologize or offer to take off any dish off from our check. We left no tip. They do not deserve any tip by cheating their customers. They clearly demonstrated that they run a shady business with greed by serving very tiny amount of meat for profit. They also do not care to lose customers. I am amazed at how they have been in business for many years with that wrong attitude and...
Read moreOh, heck yes, Seoul Garden!
I was as surprised as anyone to find that the finest Korean food in the area can be found in an unassuming storefront in Parma's Pearl Road retail drag, but those are the facts in play, folks. My husband, my parents, and I made our first trip to Seoul Garden yesterday evening and wasted no time getting waist-deep into their menu.
From the Appetizer selection, we opted into a large order of Fried Dumplings (Mahn Dool Gul) and Rice Cakes in Chile Sauce (Ddeik Bok Gi).
The Dumplings were incredible: crisp on the outside, pillowy soft on the inside, and bursting with flavor - you can tell that the dough is homemade.
The Rice Cakes were a new experience for me; the term 'cake' is somewhat misleading here, they are more like a very thick, starchy noodle. The chile sauce was the real draw for me on this dish: bright vermillion color, a jolt of heat with enough smokiness and sweetness to balance it. I may not order again, but it was worth trying!
Our appetites adequately whetted, we moved on to mains: my husband and I were both eager to try their Gop Dol Bi Bim Bap - and we weren't disappointed! The aroma of sesame oil crackling against the hot stone pot that was singeing a crispy crust onto our rice: heaven. The dish was served with a good mix of vegetables, a great fermented chile sauce, and the full bevy of accompaniments that you would expect - all of which were excellent.
The portions here are generous/commensurate with the price point, the service was polite and attentive, and the ambiance was pleasantly simple. I'm looking forward to coming back again and trying some more of what they have to offer, namely the incredible-looking vegetable pancake. I give Seoul Garden an unreserved...
Read moreIt was my first time being there I went with a friend for dinner. She had been there before. I thought their prices were really expensive to be honest with you, but the portion sizes are extreme. One plate is enough for three people so you’ll definitely have lots of leftovers. The service was two people on the floor. I mean, they kept up pretty well. We got a table right as we walked in. Some of the dishes are pretty spicy and even if you ask for less spice, they’re pretty spicy. It’s good to try new things, but just be mindful in the size of a portion size. The vegetable or seafood pancake is humongous. It’s like a platter size of a large pizza. Just letting you know. Also, before you get a lot of appetizer dishes, you get those little plates of appetizers like six little plates plus an egg that pretty much boils right in front of your eyes. It’s enough for two people just be mindful of the kimchi. It is fairly spicy if you like spicy in the right place, they also have a lot of dishes with the clear noodle which I like so I will be mindful what I ordered next time as well I ordered the boiled beef soup with vegetable. It really did not have very much taste when I got home. I added chicken stock to it with a little bit of soy. I added some ginger, and I also added some tarragon and rosemary, and then it tasted pretty good so it’s like hit or miss when you go to a new place and you don’t know how they spice the dish. Nothing was overly salty. The rice cakes are very good, but not with all that spicy on it…. My nose was running the whole time but just be mindful two people was about $75 and that’s not even ordering a drink so I have to give this...
