We went to this location last month to try their milkshake of the month which was peach cobbler and it was the worst tasting milkshake my wife and I had ever tried. So we told the server we hated them and asked if we could just get a chocolate and a strawberry instead because how bad the other peach ones were. So the server went to talk to his manager, which was Loretta that day and when he returned from talking with her we could not believe what he said this idiot Loretta said that if we wanted different flavor we would have to pay for them! I've never in my life complained to a manager at any restaurant at any location that when you told them that what you ordered you hated it and that it tastes awful and wanted something else and been told no if you want something else because you hated what you got you have to pay for it! That Loretta ought to be fired from that place! Telling us that they were made right and she would not replace them! I honestly could not believe my ears and because of that woman's terrible management skills we will never return to that place again and we used to frequent that location but after that encounter never again unless that Loretta gets gone. Their milkshakes are not cheap like 8 something for a large and if you get one you can't eat because it made you nauseous, anyone would want it replaced with one you will eat. And to have that woman snub us like that... If you want to eat Swenson's I definitely don't recommend the Brookpark Rd location, you may be told to eat what you don't like and have to re buy something else.. In today's economy any place should be making their customers happy so they will come back not run them off! We won't be giving that place another dollar and make sure our family and friends don't either! So thank you Loretta I hope your boss is happy with your management skills... Because we think...
Read moreWe never had Swenson's but thought that a company that had been in business since 1934 would have great food & a smooth running operation. We were WRONG. I ordered & paid for our meals on line (which included a 25% tip which I hoped would "insure prompt service"). The site said the food would be ready for pick-up at 6:35PM. We pulled into a parking space at exactly that time. A young man came over & we gave our name & he said our food would be out in a few minutes. From where we were parked, we could see everything that was happening in the kitchen. Orders were piling up on the counter. People came & went so after waiting patiently for 20 minutes, we flagged down the same young man. He said "you don't have your food?". He went inside & came out with a small bag & one shake. He said the other shake would be out in a minute. We got the other shake & headed to our house which is 3 minutes away. As my husband unwrapped his "quarter pound burger", he began to laugh. I looked at it & was horrified. Then I looked at my "half pound burger". They both looked as if someone had stepped on them. I ordered "well done" They were both "pink". No seasoning, whatsoever. The fries had no salt. My fault I ordered the potato teezers without seeing that they contained Jalapeno so I didn't eat them. The banana shake was OK. My husband ordered vanilla but he said it didn't taste like vanilla but drank it anyway. So for $23.45 + a $4.69 tip, we threw away most of it & will NEVER go to a Swenson's in the future. I do not know if you will see this but I cannot fill out your survey as you requested b/c the Brookpark Rd location...
Read moreI grew up in West Akron, frequenting the original Swensons in Wallhaven and I never had a bad experience there.
I was pleasantly surprised to have TWO Swensons nearby when moving to Parma. I have came and ordered here at least six times since January, all pleasant experiences. However my most recent experience was less impressive, and it was my first time ordering delivery via UberEats.
All my onion rings were not only burnt, but missing half the breading. Then the potato teasers were underdone, and the fries along with all other fried items had a weird aftertaste that comes with desperately needing the fryer oil changed.
I’m not sure if it was handled with less care since I ordered via UberEats or if it was just a coincidence. But it was surprising and disappointing enough for me to want to write a review about it.
I’m still giving them 4 stars because in my 30 years of patronage at Swensons I can’t remember another bad experience. But I also feel the owner would appreciate this feedback because I know he holds his employees and stores to a much, much higher standard than this.
My brother once tried getting the owner to open up a Swensons in Pittsburgh when he moved there…even offered to put up the money and run it…the owner refused him, saying he likes his stores being close enough that he can keep an eye on quality control and things of that nature…so I know things like that are extremely important to him. That being said, my brother still makes the four hour round trip back to Akron 1-2x a month literally just to get Galley Boys…doesn’t even visit any of us…just gets his Swensons and drives back to...
