Casa Olé is to Houstonians from the 90’s-00’s what Casa Bonita is to Eric Cartman from South Park. It is a Tex-Mex treasure that either Houston or the creators didn’t cherish it enough when they had the chance. You will NEVER find better cheese enchiladas or green sauce that is guaranteed, and although to some this could be argued, but to me it’s undebatable.
Sadly, these beloved chains have been closing down one by one to much chagrin and lament from me each time it happens.
I used to go to the now closed Stafford location from a literal child of 7 years old, and before that the Sharpstown location. And although going as a kid can slant your opinion to one side with the familiarity and nostalgia factor, one could argue if it wasn’t that good I wouldn’t care, and I most certainly care what happens to this business.
The Pasadena location is clean, the service is friendly & quick while the prices are excellent.
This particular restaurant does everything to the tee and I recommend this location and the Pearland location depending on where you are coming from in the metropolitan area. Smaller towns appreciate Casa Olé and they take pride in doing things top tier.
It’s great for a night out to have some margaritas with friends & family, (look into the cheap Rita nights that vary by location) birthdays as they will give you a free dessert and sing the traditional song to ya, or just a regular night out. It’s decorated like an Americanized idea of a Tijuana hotspot, they have TVs for sports or other programs, and vending machines with some small trinkets for the kids.
If you like Tex-Mex and you aren’t a regular to Casa Olé from time to time you don’t know what you’re missing. Try it tonight if you’re looking for a place, and keep giving them your business so we don’t lose the only two locations on this side of Houston. They did nothing wrong and we will be worse for wear...
Read moreI used to eat here all the time in the 90s, it was my favorite place to go have lunch with my mom. First I'll get to the food..chips & salsa were pretty good & that's important to me when chips & salsa are complimentary before the meal.. the green sauce was as yummy as I remember. Red salsa didnt have enough heat but definitely had a good flavor. I got the tortilla soup & cheese enchilada. These are where they are really lacking, there's too much cheese in the tortilla soup, the soup was more like canned vegetable soup, I thought they used to put tortilla chips in it but not anymore I guess, I just added my own but it really didn't do the soup any justice, there was so much cheese that it ended up coming off snotty which grossed me out. The cheese enchilada was flavorless, the cheese just must be cheap as hell cause it was so nasty.and I usually love anything cheesy. I should've gotten the beef enchiladas.
And for the safety precautions taken,.. I mean they provide soap. BUT they kept sitting people right on top of each other when there was plenty of space all over the restaurant. There was a family right next to us & another couple sitting right behind me, this should not be happening during a pandemic. Space people out. I realize going to a restaurant is going to be a risk in itself but they could've done a better job keeping people a distance from each other considering we have to take our masks off to eat. I wont be back to this location that is for sure. I hate that I will be paranoid now for weeks cause I went to have lunch...
Read moreI have been dining at Casa Ole for over 20 years. I visited today at 3:30PM. After waiting for someone to greet me at the door I was finally acknowledged with “How many?”. No smile, no how are you, no welcome at all. Me and my child were sat and then waited several minutes before being greeted. The server greeted me with the same lack of hospitality that I was given at the front door. After ordering and receiving my food I was brought the check without me asking for it 4 minutes after my food came to the table. The server circled back around every 2 minutes after that looking for my payment. I had hardly eaten my food and was trying to enjoy a meal with my child. Although feeling very unwelcome I tried to let it go and continue to eat. The server then came and asked me if she could get my plate out of the way. Before I could respond she reached for my plate which was still full. I looked at my receipt and realized from the time my ticket was opened until the time I was being shoved out the door only 24 minutes had lapsed. Not sure what happened here and not sure if I’ll ever return. Much friendly service at Deer...
