We just visited my mom and the gal who worked there recommended Saltgrass steak restaurant nearby. She did not specify which one however there was one near our hotel. It is located off Eat Sam houston Pkwy and Spencer hwy. We knew it would be a high end restaurant and that was fine. We got there at dinner time during the week. The place was quite busy. Several large parties. The decor is very cool. Very western Texas. We were seated fairly quick, only 3 of us. My wife and my brother. We all got the 6oz. Filet with various degrees of doneness. My brother wanting rare, I want medium and my wife wanted medium well. The waitstaff was very nice and accommodating. So why the low score? Well it was the food. Everything came out and looked excellent, until! My steak was rare! Probably my brother's. His steak was not rare at all nor was my wife's they way she asked. Hers was medium not medium well. My wife cannot tolerate seasoning of any kind so she asked for them not to season her steak. She got a salad and asparagus. I got a salad and mashed potatoes and my brother got asparagus and a sweet potato (baked) which turned out to be the only decent item to eat. It first started with my salad. Something was off but it still seemed fresh. Then my wife commented on her salad. Our steaks came out and as we cut into them we knew immediately that they were wrong. As I think about it, we could have shifted our plates to the right and everyone would have been happy. So they did not season my wife's steak, however they seasoned her asparagus! Hmm let's put two and two together shall we. We all ate our meal as much as possible with no complaints and still tipped the waitress very well. Several days later while visiting we family we mentioned this ordeal. He said so which one did you go too? We told him and he slowly said, no, you don't want to go to that location. It was our first time so take this as you will. I'm sure the other locations would...
Read moreYesterday 7/27/19 I was so anxious to introduce Saltgrass to my daughter for her Birthday. We were a party of seven. I have eaten there previously with my brother approximately three times. Never had a complaint before. Sorry to say that upon reviewing the menu I was undecided between the grilled salmon and the Oscar Salmon. I decided upon asking the waiter which one would be more moist. He mentioned that the Oscar Salmon would be a good choice. So that's what I ordered. When I received my plate it didn't look at all what I expected. Didn't want to say anything at that moment because looks can be deceiving. I had only eaten breakfast so I was so hungry by that time. Needless to say I was so disappointed. The Salmon was dry. The green beans looked withered and not very inviting. I ate most of it cause I didn't want to ruin the moment of the occasion. Seemed like everyone else was content with their order except my daughter. The birthday girl. I suggested to her to order the ribs which I told her were so tender that the meat would fall off the bone. Not true they were tough. Gosh I was so sorry I recommended her to order that. Oh well. Anyway I myself when I got home was not able to sleep because my stomach was so upset after the meal and here I am the next day still trying to get over my upset stomach. Needless to say my daughter told me she didn't want to ever return there. That was a big dissapointment to me because I wanted it to be special for her. I can however say the waiter was exceptionally attentive to our needs which was the only thing that stood from the occasion. Please look into that Oscar Salmon which is pretty pricey which I don't mind paying for if it's worth it,,,,, which was overpriced for the poor quality. What...
Read moreMy review will be based on customer service, food, and atmosphere. Originally, we stopped at Texas Roadhouse. The parking lot situation there is not car friendly so we decided to look for another place to eat. During our search, Saltgrass came up. So here we are. First visit and will be our last. We sat at the bar, and surprisingly, it was not busy. We ordered our drinks and waited about 15 minutes to place our food order. While some side items are an upcharge. I did not expect it to be as high as it was. I do not recommend that you get the asparagus. As you can see, these were scranny and had no taste. I also ordered a pork chop that was lightly seasoned (which is what I asked for). What I did not ask for was the greasy aftertaste. The sweet potato was descent. I would hope so considering the upcharge. The service was so and so. Not great just mediocre. While this should have been brought up to the manager. I felt that my disappointment would have been on deaf ears. Let me clarify my statement. While sitting at the bar, I happened to notice someone who I thought to be the manager came up to the bar register and aggressively slide her manager card and aggressively touch the screen. So, with that observation, I felt that my concerns on our dinner would have been on deaf ears. The atmosphere was descent. I feel that everything that we ate was overpriced. We could have gotten this half the cost at Texas Roadhouse. Now we know. We...
