Updated Review: Came here for my daughters bday breakfast since they send you a coupon for a free meal. We ordered the free meal and the waitress rang it up as a different, but similar meal so they would not honor the coupon at the register. Wow. I give up on this place. Wont be back. Previous review: Why was there a guy painting in the women's restroom at 9am? So then I have to go into the men's and I'm sure I scared that guy using the urinal but oh well. 😅 the food was good. I feel like it's kinda over priced and I'm pretty sure what I ordered was not what it said on the menu. In fact, I looked it up and I'm now sure it wasn't. This is what I ordered: Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Sausage Scramble (590 cals.) Diced roasted red pepper chicken sausage scrambled with egg whites, jack cheese, spinach and sautĂ©ed mushroom. Topped with sliced avocado and diced tomato and served with fresh fruit and a slice of dry, wheat toast The waitress then comes back later and tells me it's served with hashbrowns and a biscuit. I said really? I don't remember that? She said yes it does. I wanted something light so I told her no biscuit I just fruit.. I felt like something was off now I know I was right. Not a great way to start on a first visit. Two entrees with coffee 40$. I'll just go to waffle house.

We stopped in here last week for lunch. We had about a 15 minute wait on waiting list as this place was packed. I had the Hungry Bear Steak (10 oz New York Steak), scrambled eggs, strip cut hash browns, and 2 very large homemade biscuits. All of the food was excellent except the strip cut hash browns so I’ll will try the country red potatoes on the next visit. Hubby had the Joe’s Hobo Omelette with ham, link sausage, bacon, jack cheese, cheddar cheese, spinach and onions. His sides were strip cut hash browns, and sourdough toast and glass of orange juice. Hubby said he really enjoyed his food. Grandkid had an order of the Cubs Sprinkle pancakes with bacon and orange juice and said he enjoyed his food. We also ordered to-go the Housemade Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and Italian green beans with bacon and an order of Slow-cooked Pit Roast with mashed potatoes and gravy, and Italian green beans. We ate these for dinner and both entrees were excellent. The customer service was excellent especially our Server Jennifer. The food portions were huge and the pricing is very reasonable for home cooked tasting food. We will definitely return again and would certainly recommend that you give them a try. They also gave a Military discount which was appreciated.

We visited here for the first time. We went around 12 noon. There was a 20-minute wait for 3 of us, but we ended up being seated in half the time. We had a server tend to us rather quickly. I did let her know that it was our first time, and so she gave us a menu tour, which we appreciated. The menus are unique. They look like a newspaper. I ended up getting the chicken and waffle with a side of country gravy, my husband ordered the dinner meatloaf with green beans and onion rings and it came with a choice of soup or salad to start with and a corn bread muffin. Our daughter had a cheese pizza, fries, and apple juice from the kids' menu. Our server brought her apple juice in a small small cup because she said the kids' size was really small, so we appreciated that. My waffle was good, but the chicken strips were a little too salty for my taste. My daughter liked her food, and my husband's meatloaf was delicious. We ordered an apple cobbler for dessert, and that was ok. They didn't have ice cream, so we couldn't get it a la mode, so that was a bummer. Overall, the experience was not bad and the prices were average. We'll visit again.

First time trying this place. I’ve been wanting to try it out since they opened, but they’re always packed. So we decided to go for Dinner on a Saturday around 7:45/8. It wasn’t busy at all. Upon walking in the hostess was checking out a couple, so we waited just a minute to be seated. The atmosphere and theme was nice, lots of bears and bear decor everywhere. We were seated and told our waitress would be with us in a few minutes. Within 5 minutes, she came to our table. She didn’t introduce herself, just asked what we’d like to drink. Upon returning she placed our drinks at the end of the table, leaving us to separate them to the person they belonged to. She then asked if we were ready to order and we asked for a few more minutes, as we were still looking over the menu. After about 10 minutes, she returned and asked if we had decided what we wanted. I ordered the Chicken fried steak, My husband got the Prime rib (Saturday Special) and our son ordered the pancakes. We had to ask for the syrup, along with the cornbread that is supposed to come with our meals, and she still only brought us one. Never offered drink refills to any of us. We kept a menu, to order dessert after our meal. When we tried to order a shake for dessert, we were told the kitchen had just turned the machine off, but it was only 8:30, and they didn’t close till 10.. It seemed like she just didn’t want to be bothered with it. We finished our meals & decided we would go down to street to Dairy Queen to get a shake. Our son got a pair of bear feet & we paid our bill. Upon leaving & looking on the receipt for the waitress’s name, which was “Nicolette” we saw she had charged us for the soup that is supposed to come with the meal. I’m giving this review 2 stars, only because the food was pretty good, but the service was horrible, from someone who is a previous waitress, she needs to be re-trained. I wonder how she makes any tips, because I sure didn’t tip her based on her lack of skills and attitude. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I wouldn’t go...

The worse experience I've had in a long time, at any restaurant. The waitress was rude, walked off in the middle of us asking her opinion on what was good on the menu. I'm sorry to say, but when you go out to eat, the last thing you want to see is, a rude waitress with bad teeth and food caked up all on them. Her hygiene was not very well. She downed the cooks and said, if she was us, she would play it safe and just get breakfast. She said, the cooks, haven't gotten an order right all day. Another waitress came by, we asked her what was good, expressed our concerns to her about our waitress, she even agreed about the girls teeth. I was not trying to be rude, I'm sorry, but it made us lose our appetite. We then got our food, everything was either cold, FULL OF GREASE, or just plain nasty. I then asked for a manager, expressed our disappointment. Right after we expressed our concerns, we were confronted by our waitress about her teeth, then the manager came back over and confronted us about her waitresses teeth and hygiene. It was all handled very unprofessional, the food was horrible, the whole restaurant was unpleasant, unprofessional, it was dirty, the food was horrible and sad to say, we will never be back. We were not trying to be mean, but when you go out to eat, pay as much as it is today to eat out, your there because your hungry, the last thing you want is, food coming out of a waitresses mouth, a manager that you can't confide in, other waitresses hurting others feelings and to be confronted by a manager, instead of...

Our company volunteered in the area and after, we decided to have breakfast with our team. We arrived to this location. It was clean, nicely decorated, warm atmosphere. We were a party of 11 and were seated immediately at a table that more than accommodated us. Our server was Wendy who was a really bright spot! She was kind, attentive, engaging, and had the loveliest personality. The food was disappointing. I realise that not every restaurant can make a good hollandaise but this was something I have never seen. The sauce was salty, lumpy (visible lumps), far too thick and lacked the zesty overtones that you expect from a good hollandaise. I had to scrape the sauce off of my eggs to be able to eat. I opted for country potatoes which was another error as they were undercooked but oversalted. I asked to replace them with a different side - the only options were more fruit (which was mostly cantaloupe/honeydew), grits or hashbrowns so I asked about the grits and was told they were runny which is not appealing so I opted out of all sides. The eggs were poached correctly so I ate the eggs and a few bites of the soggy bacon. Overall, I was disappointed with the food as were several of my colleagues. Most of us did not eat much of our food. This was my first visit to Black Bear and I do not...
