First time trying this place. Iâve been wanting to try it out since they opened, but theyâre always packed. So we decided to go for Dinner on a Saturday around 7:45/8. It wasnât busy at all. Upon walking in the hostess was checking out a couple, so we waited just a minute to be seated. The atmosphere and theme was nice, lots of bears and bear decor everywhere. We were seated and told our waitress would be with us in a few minutes. Within 5 minutes, she came to our table. She didnât introduce herself, just asked what weâd like to drink. Upon returning she placed our drinks at the end of the table, leaving us to separate them to the person they belonged to. She then asked if we were ready to order and we asked for a few more minutes, as we were still looking over the menu. After about 10 minutes, she returned and asked if we had decided what we wanted. I ordered the Chicken fried steak, My husband got the Prime rib (Saturday Special) and our son ordered the pancakes. We had to ask for the syrup, along with the cornbread that is supposed to come with our meals, and she still only brought us one. Never offered drink refills to any of us. We kept a menu, to order dessert after our meal. When we tried to order a shake for dessert, we were told the kitchen had just turned the machine off, but it was only 8:30, and they didnât close till 10.. It seemed like she just didnât want to be bothered with it. We finished our meals & decided we would go down to street to Dairy Queen to get a shake. Our son got a pair of bear feet & we paid our bill. Upon leaving & looking on the receipt for the waitressâs name, which was âNicoletteâ we saw she had charged us for the soup that is supposed to come with the meal. Iâm giving this review 2 stars, only because the food was pretty good, but the service was horrible, from someone who is a previous waitress, she needs to be re-trained. I wonder how she makes any tips, because I sure didnât tip her based on her lack of skills and attitude. I wouldnât recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I wouldnât go...
Read moreThe worse experience I've had in a long time, at any restaurant. The waitress was rude, walked off in the middle of us asking her opinion on what was good on the menu. I'm sorry to say, but when you go out to eat, the last thing you want to see is, a rude waitress with bad teeth and food caked up all on them. Her hygiene was not very well. She downed the cooks and said, if she was us, she would play it safe and just get breakfast. She said, the cooks, haven't gotten an order right all day. Another waitress came by, we asked her what was good, expressed our concerns to her about our waitress, she even agreed about the girls teeth. I was not trying to be rude, I'm sorry, but it made us lose our appetite. We then got our food, everything was either cold, FULL OF GREASE, or just plain nasty. I then asked for a manager, expressed our disappointment. Right after we expressed our concerns, we were confronted by our waitress about her teeth, then the manager came back over and confronted us about her waitresses teeth and hygiene. It was all handled very unprofessional, the food was horrible, the whole restaurant was unpleasant, unprofessional, it was dirty, the food was horrible and sad to say, we will never be back. We were not trying to be mean, but when you go out to eat, pay as much as it is today to eat out, your there because your hungry, the last thing you want is, food coming out of a waitresses mouth, a manager that you can't confide in, other waitresses hurting others feelings and to be confronted by a manager, instead of...
Read moreOur company volunteered in the area and after, we decided to have breakfast with our team. We arrived to this location. It was clean, nicely decorated, warm atmosphere. We were a party of 11 and were seated immediately at a table that more than accommodated us. Our server was Wendy who was a really bright spot! She was kind, attentive, engaging, and had the loveliest personality. The food was disappointing. I realise that not every restaurant can make a good hollandaise but this was something I have never seen. The sauce was salty, lumpy (visible lumps), far too thick and lacked the zesty overtones that you expect from a good hollandaise. I had to scrape the sauce off of my eggs to be able to eat. I opted for country potatoes which was another error as they were undercooked but oversalted. I asked to replace them with a different side - the only options were more fruit (which was mostly cantaloupe/honeydew), grits or hashbrowns so I asked about the grits and was told they were runny which is not appealing so I opted out of all sides. The eggs were poached correctly so I ate the eggs and a few bites of the soggy bacon. Overall, I was disappointed with the food as were several of my colleagues. Most of us did not eat much of our food. This was my first visit to Black Bear and I do not...
