I’ve been going to seed bakery for many years and I continue to go because I want to support my local bakery because I live just down the street. I can tell you that there’s not been one time out of all the times I’ve purchased baked goods there that some part of the baked good wasn’t seared black also, I have never received a latte that wasn’t burned whether I order a nondairy milk or a dairy milk today I decided to go in and ask for my latte not to be burned and the guy behind the counter mansprained “ are you sure you just don’t want it to be as hot” as if I never had a latte somewhere else in my life that wasn’t burned, or I myself hadn’t been a barista for many years and knew very well had to create a latte that didn’t have burned. He acted as if it was impossible for milk to be burned. I told him I was trying to give it one more shot because I really wanted to support my local business. And he looked at me and said.” Well, I don’t know what to tell you. We’re not a coffee shop.” Meanwhile the menu right there carries at least eight coffee drinks that they have a priced for the perceived income for the Pasadena neighborhood that they exist in never mind the exorbitant prices of their pastries. I’ve waited to write a review for several years because I didn’t want to give them a negative review because I know how challenging it can be to have a small business. Well there you go see bakery keep burning your coffees and being snarky oh, and continue to burn your pastries to great work. All your other positive reviews must be for people who like...
Read moreBread, food, quite good. But employee turnover is remarkably high, even for the food industry. What’s the deal? I got a taste of it (pardon the pun) yesterday. I’m a regular customer, and yesterday one part of my order was noticeably less fresh than usual. When I returned to exchange it for the much fresher baguettes, I was surprised to receive a ten minute lecture by the baker boss himself. I’m a commercially licensed bread maker in Pasadena. My two pieces of bread equaled to a grand total of $4. Instead of taking me at my word, he lectured me sternly on the properties of bread, he manhandled my entire bag of bread with his bare hands, including the ones I was keeping. 🙄 He seemed….aggressively used to being “right.” I finally completed the exchange, got my additional baguette, and left politely. I now understand clearly why they simply cannot hold onto good employees save for a couple of (forgive the assumption) loyalists to the throne. It’s too bad, and sometimes, you can taste this chaos in the food. For example, the $9 empanadas, biscotti, simply not at all better than other options - even Trader Joe’s and those are a fraction of the price. Grateful for a neighborhood bakery, yes. And, this is a nuance I...
Read moreWanted to give a three star because the pastries are good, but the person who we spoke to in person had the worst attitude. We bought 2 pastries and 2 sandwiches and one baguette. We went home and found a live worm in our pull pork sandwich, we called in to notify them and the lady we spoke to was really nice and refunded us the sandwich amount but asked us to bring back the sandwich. We went out of our way to bring back the sandwich and packaged the worm to show them, but the guy who we spoke to had the audacity to reply haven't you ever had worms in your food before? This is the problem when you have organic greens, and fresh greens. Trying to excuse themselves saying their ingredients are very fresh. I think this is the problem when you don't wash your greens properly. I really wanted to like this place because it was highly referred by a friend but the way they handled this was so unacceptable. With this type of respond we will never come back again. I'm just glad my kid didn't eat the sandwich as I was about to split half. As for the baguette we prefer the Vietnamese restaurants. But that's...
