Had a terrible experience while dining in for lunch with my autistic son. He was discriminated against for being autistic by Julio an employee. My son was not disrupting anyone he simply was highly stimulated and that seemed to bothered Julio who brought it to my attention. I was in complete shock that he stated my son was a danger to customers passing by or dining at restaurant. Only a person with complete ignorance could say such a thing. I asked to speak to Manager Carlos but he was not at restaurant. However , later on this evening I was able to speak to him and explained our traumatizing experience. I asked that changes be made and all staff be educated on how to treat All Customers with respect and equality. Truly hope this brings awareness to others when dining at this restaurant. I truly hoped at the moment this occured I could have built the courage to stand up to this individual and advocate on my behalf of my son but I was so upset I couldn't find the words at that moment nor did I want to cause a scene with 2 other families dining in. The manager did state I could call if I visited again for lunch. However , no lunch could ever make me forget the discrimination we faced. I only hope this post brings change to staff and awareness to anyone...
Read moreI've been going to Tarantino's since the early '80s and think it's arguably the best Italian Eatery in Pasadena. Good pizza, with your choice of two different types of sauce. The grandmother sauce has big chunks of sweet bell pepper in it and the other one is called Tony's and is less sweet and might have a bit of Parmesan cheese in it. You would think after all these years I'd have that figured out but it's a pleasant mystery. Good pasta dishes with your choice of pasta configuration. Good usage of anchovies in one of them! But I can't say enough about the Pepe salad which is all the salads mixed together. Pesto bow tie mixed with red cabbage salad mixed with cucumber salad mixed with straight up pasta salad tossed in Greens with tomatoes and garbanzo beans. The perfect starter that ruins your appetite for your main entree. But I don't have a problem with that! Most of the servers have been there a long time and once they get to know you it makes going there even funner. It's cash only and I applaud that as well as the Starburst that they give you when...
Read moreTarantino’s on Green Street has become one of our go-to spots in Pasadena. The Works pizza was spot on: crispy crust with a generous layer of pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives, onions, and peppers. Everything was balanced and hearty, and the crust had just the right bite to hold it all together. The Quinceñera pasta is still the dish I keep coming back for: creamy, rich, with tender chicken, mushrooms, and jalapeños that give just the right kick. We’ve nearly worked our way through the pasta menu, but this one is easily my favorite.
Service is always excellent, and our waiter was especially friendly and gave great recommendations. The dining room is narrow, casual, and usually busy, but it has that old-school charm with photos covering the walls that make it feel warm and familiar. Parking can be a little tricky with the one-way streets on Green and Hudson, so it’s worth planning ahead.
Tarantino’s continues to be a spot that delivers consistently great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a reason we keep...
