TLDR: coffee is good, service and experience is not
Not happy about this experience at all and probably wonāt be returning. Iāll start with the product. The coffee is good so if thatās your only requirement for spending $5 on a cup of coffee then look no further you should be satisfied on this one. For me if Iām going to spend a lot on bougee coffee I want to have good customer service and a positive experience call me crazy. There were at least 5 people working here and no one greeted or responded to me until I was awkwardly standing by where I thought the line started until I was told where to go. From there I ordered my two drinks one coffee, one decaf iced coffee, simple enough no? I paid and then waited. Finally after receiving coffee right away I began to get confused on why it took so much longer to get the same order with a scoop of ice. It wasnāt until I said something that I was told my order was coming up and I watched the barista pour a glass of ice water and dump a tiny shot into it, and hand it to me. When I said I didnāt order this he said iced americano right? Maybe Iām mistaken but itās not the same thing and they donāt cost the same amount either(probably explains the tab which was more than I expected). When I said I ordered an iced coffee he told me they donāt have iced coffee in a confused tone like I was crazy. He and the girl who rang me up started going back and forth and it seemed to be more of a hassle than I was prepared to deal with so I grabbed my drinks and ran. Again if I was in a Starbucks or Dunkinā Donuts I could understand this kind of confusion and reaction. I came to a higher end coffee shop to have a pleasant experience and instead I felt awkward and unwelcome. When I go to other places like Philz Iāve never had this kind of miscommunication and been made to feel like Iād done something wrong when I received the wrong order. After reading this review back Iām feeling pretty nitpicky but I also think thatās what I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would've loved to rate this place on its quailty of food and drink but by the time i got either my group was leaving. I waited for 30ish mintues for me and my partners food and coffee. First I tried asking a young lady for help at the counter and she dismissed me after finding out I wasn't here for a pick up to go order. Okay fine, not her area of operations not her problem. I can understand her perspective, I dont agree with it but I get it. We keep waiting till finally my partner goes to ask this time. We find out that the food ticket for some reason was put in as to go, and has been sitting there for who knows how long. And that our drink tickets were just lost. So turns out it was actually the young ladies area to help me but I digress. So after the now 35 plus mintue wait, which I understand its busy, but come on...they take our food to "replate it" which at this point I couldn't careless about i just want my $60 meal, only for it to come out 5 mintues later stacked in a X patern with a few sauces on the side. At this point my group has long finished their food and is waiting on only my partner and I. We opted to just ask for a refund and leave. (Which we were given and I appreciate). But the icking on poo cake is that we had a member of our group who was allergic to garlic and onion that we EXPLICITLY TOLD THE CASHIER taking our order about and still somehow ended up with garlic on her food making her VERY SICK. While i appreciate the efforts to correct the problems I would not recommend this place based on the quality of service and attention to detail. Pasadena has thousands of amazing places to get food, coffee, and brunch... pick anyone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have book marked this place before the pandemic locked downed. I finally had a chance to come here for breakfast today after my friend Jose who works here showed me all the fancy drinks and coffees they made here.
The decors are very cool here. Too bad that we donāt get to sit inside to enjoy the vibes of this cafe shop.
They do provide outside seatings but no services. I understand that they will open for outdoor dining starting this coming Saturday. Canāt wait to come back for their dinner menu.
This place is know for their gourmet coffee and brunch menu. But I just found out from my friend today that they also carry very good wines. I browsed their wine collection and found itās very impressive. This is one of the few cafes that carry high end wines like Opus One 2014 when the wine got 100 points, Justin and other high rating wines. The wines are on sale right now. So donāt miss out. The owner used to be a sommelier. I believe he knows what he is collecting.
The breakfast and pastries were very good too. I highly recommend the avocado toast with egg. The generous avocado spread on the crunchy bread was delicious. The egg on top was done perfectly with a bit of running yolk. The chocolate croissant was not too bad, though itās a bit small compared to other bakeries.
For those who love gourmet coffee, this is the right place. My friend is a barista here. He takes his job seriously. I follow his Instagram and have seen him showing his craft of making various different coffees with different temperatures and how heās been perfectsing his craft. So I think if you come to get coffees here, I can guarantee you will get the...
