The first night nightmare… the vent in bathroom sounded like a small jet engine. I called main desk but phone was broken. I used my cell phone. Maintenance the next day could not fix issue. ||Was shown another room with terrible view of parking garage and back road and similar vent noise in bathroom. I was exhausted from no sleep & had to pack up our belongings.||Tried to move to another hotel but could not transfer without paying since I used some points. ||We went to roof top to relax but it is not completed. It will be nice with views.||My husband and I tried to stay out of hotel and visit my children & grand children because it was my birthday.||Finally, hotel found us a nice quiet room with view of church.||We asked three times to clean room and no one came. They usually clean rooms every other day. I was told to call again and request cleaning. They brought us clean towels, toilet paper & some small bottles of water.||One nice thing is they leave two small bottles of water in refrigerator free.||Disappointed… did not realize no pool & no laundry. ||Employees were very nice but only were employed a few days so could not answer questions. Hotel is new opened only a month.||Luckily I included breakfast for two which is normally $30 a person. Sad for me I am allergic to eggs and milk products but there were other choices. The staff found me non-dairy milk for coffee & tea and there was fruit and juices and some meat cold cuts.||My husband had a nice quiche and omelet and there are yoghurts, milk & cheese for dairy lovers at breakfast buffet.||The hotel is very clean and no carpets in rooms with very nice plank flooring.||Unfortunately, we were sensitive & allergic to glue on the potent smelling new hallway carpets. Our eyes burned & teared.||Fitness Center looked immaculate & new, the air conditioning was freezing.||We are still at hotel since I booked ten nights, so review entails only first three days of vacation debacles. I pray the next 6 nights, I can sleep.||There is a bar patio area with music & there were people enjoying the social atmosphere in the evening.||Nice location & Pasadena is pretty.|We will not return to this hotel but will use a different hotel next time to visit my children & grand children. I really need a pool & laundry. In the future, this hotel will improve and repair vent noise issues and complete...
Read moreBrand new everything, great location, but still need to resolve some issues…
As a lifetime platinum member (1,000+nights stayed at Marriott), I’ve stayed at plenty of AC Hotels and they are all basically the same: clean, simple, no free breakfast. This one is by far the nicest I’ve ever seen. Amazing layout & the open air concept lobby bar is perfect for Pasadena and this location is perfectly close to good food, culture, shopping, and offices. Also appreciate bed bug protectors even on brand new mattresses! Gym has a good view and average equipment for a AC. Breakfast wouldn’t be worth $30 and would recommend going next door to Urth Cafe for a cheaper/nicer option. Housekeeping did an amazing job!
Given it’s only a month old, I would expect some things that are still getting worked out… below are the issues I’m hoping can be resolved: 1.) Very corporate check in. Asked several personal details like what company you work for, personal mobile number, what brings you to town. Felt like an interview rather than someone being friendly… 2.) PLEASE BEWARE: Every room has a noisy bathroom fan that does not shut off. It makes the room sound like you are on an airplane. If you’re a light sleeper BEWARE! I checked multiple rooms and this is clearly a structural issue. Also, the HVAC loud noise in hallways is unavoidable. It is a substantial white noise. When I brought it up to the front desk they had no idea what I was talking about. I asked for a white noise sound machine (as many AC’s I have stayed at have them in every room - example: AC Cambridge, MA had them in every room where I was staying right before this) and the front desk did not know what it was. Only workaround is to sleep with bathroom door closed and would recommend packing your own white noise machine. We had to download an iPhone app. If anyone from the hotel is reading this, please make white noise machines available at the front desk - will also combat street noise from Colorado Blvd which is to be noted too… 3.) Air conditioner was slow to respond but generally worked. Becomes an issue in rooms facing South Madison Ave given the direct sun all morning. 4.) Key card security on elevators was not activated. Door on 6th floor between conference room and hotel rooms remained propped open...

Check-in was a great start — we were greeted with smiles and light jokes, which made us feel very welcome. The staff were friendly and warm, and it got us excited for the stay.
However, things took a turn once we got to our room. There was no hand soap, the AC wasn’t working, and oddly, a towel was wrapped around the top of the shower head. We went to the front desk about the towel and were told someone would come remove it. Later, I had to call again about the AC, and they said it would be reset and to wait 10 minutes — unfortunately, it still didn’t work.
The good news is they moved us to another room and made sure the AC was working. This new room also had hand soap (yay!). However, the large window had greasy marks, almost like people had been pressing their foreheads against it. Gross, but still an upgrade from the previous room.
Then we woke up to a puddle on the floor — the AC vent in the ceiling was leaking. We had to put a trash can under it, and it filled nearly halfway with water from the drip.
On a positive note, housekeeping did a great job when we had our room cleaned. Everything was spotless and even our scattered bathroom items were tidied up nicely — a small gesture that went a long way.
One morning, we were woken up by an emergency evacuation alarm that went off four times. We were told it was triggered by a guest smoking on their balcony with the door open, and the repeated alarms were due to system resets and testing.
Overall, the staff were consistently kind and seemed genuinely apologetic about all the issues. I understand the property is still relatively new, so I hope they’re still ironing out the kinks.
That said, for the price we paid, I do wish some kind of compensation had been offered for the multiple inconveniences — even a meal voucher or a day of free valet parking would have gone a long way in showing they value guest satisfaction.
I might stay here again to give it another shot — but I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or...
