I was in the mood for some Thai curry in a nice, peaceful environment. When we walked in, the atmosphere of the restaurant seemed nice and calm, with pictures and paintings of bamboo, pandas, and Buddhas everywhere. I noticed that the TV was playing a sci-fi movie that was nothing but shootings, killings, bombings and blood and gore in almost every scene, and the issue was that the volume was on very loud. It was certainly enough of an issue that the intended peaceful environment of the place was completely ruined by the vibe created by the loud gory movie. It just didn’t make any sense.
When I brought it to the attention of the young waitress, who seemed like she was still in high school and was at a table eating with her friends who also may or may not have worked there and was very intently watching the loud movie, she seemed like she truly couldn’t care less. She mentioned something about the owner wanting it that way.
A little old lady who was quietly sitting behind me had also mentioned to me that she was bothered by the type of movie that was playing on the TV and that it was excessively loud, but that she didn’t want to say anything to anyone because she was afraid it might bother someone.
Well, the volume was eventually turned down, but hardly at all, so the noise of shootings and killings and screaming persisted - to the point where I finally got up and asked for a to-go container.
The service was awful. I had also asked the waitress for water but was never given any. The food portions were ridiculously small. These people are cheap and it shows.
I didn’t receive a single apology. Rest assured, I will never return to...
Read moreThis is a tricky review to write. Last week I had a craving for Thai food and found this place online. It is fairly close to where I live. I click the order online link and pick what I want, scheduling it for one hour. I leave work and get there exactly in an hour and go in.
That’s when the fun starts. They have no way of knowing when an online order is placed!
I have to show them the confirmation email. They are out of one of the dishes I ordered and haven’t had another “in forever.”
I substitute the dish they are out of and ask for a refund on the other since I paid online. They don’t do refunds. Great. So I wait for my food. They also seemed ticked that I actually ordered online instead of calling.
Why be part of a program with Grubhub if you are unable to actually participate?!?
As for the food, the Pad Thai was very disappointing. We couldn’t even finish it. The curries, however, were wonderful. I’d stick with chicken as the meat tho, because the beef was tough and dry.
One curry was twice the size of the others which makes me wonder if I was given the small size on the other two (I paid for full).
Grunhub was quick to issue a refund the next day but this establishment can’t be bothered to even keep their online...
Read moreThis Thai restaurant is a little Pasadena gem. It is tucked away in an outlet, and if you blink you might miss it... so, don't blink!
The interior is nicely decorated and while it might seem like the decorations are cluttered or "all over the place," it really does add to the ambiance in a positive way. Everything is clean and organized. The lighting isn't too dark or too bright.
It is a "seat yourself and pay at the front when you're done" sort of set-up, but you still interact with the wait-staff. Each server is pleasant, punctual, and professional.
The menu has heaps of Thai options, but you must try their Red Curry! I would also recommend the Chicken Satay as a starter.
After you order you are given a complimentary bowl of delicious brothy soup. Even with a crowd of people you won't wait very long for your food.
The servers will occasionally check on you, but will leave you to eat your food in peace. I was pleasantly surprised with how attentive the staff was in terms of drink refills and clearing dishes.
This is not only a "must try" Pasadena spot, I would consider it a "must try" Houston Thai spot. You won't regret...
