Read moreThe host behind the cash register was very pleasant. She offered me a warm greeting upon entering, while assisting another customer and politely answered all of my inquiries. Sadly though, my taste buds were not as enthusiastically palatable as the other reviews listed here. I found nothing special in any of the dishes. I purchased the rib platter with two side dishes - mac&cheese and potato salad. I personally tasted to find that the ribs were dry and and the barbecue sauce not so complementary to the meat. The mac&cheese was just some pasta smolder in cheese - lacking any flavor. I was really looking forward to the peach cobbler pie that received much raves. Above all, this was the most disappointing. The peaches did not taste fresh - more like canned fruit. The crust was very doughy and thin. And if you are border line diabetic stay away from this pie. It is so sweet and syrupy. Their other business is Clifton's BBQ which is two store fronts merged together. It is tucked away on the side of a building and initially is hard to find but there is tons of street parking. My mom and I saw a Huell Howser special on them a while back and for sure this couple has been baking cobblers and bbq for over thirty years now at least.
I like getting their cobblers and taking it home to eat with some ice cream. Just two scoops over the 4x6 pies is enough as a good dessert. The bbq is good too and arguably better than Gus' and Lucille's. Would the pies be more if you got it from Marie Callender's? Of course it would just like any other major restaurant but the charm of the Gourmet Cobble Factory is not just the cobblers and bbq but getting to support local businesses -- our mom and pop businesses especially black owned. If you're in the area, stop by the Gourmet Cobbler Factory and pick up some...
