APRIL 2024 UPDATE:

Recently ordered for pick up from here again. We got some more tacos and this time, we also ordered some Huaraches and a chicken burrito. The Huaraches were super oily and messy. The chicken burrito was kind of a joke. It tasted like they chopped up some leftover Costco rotisserie chicken and rolled it into the burrito.

I would still come back for the tacos, but nothing else.

2023:

I found this place on Yelp because the $1.50 tacos caught my eye. So, we ordered a bunch of tacos for pick up on a Friday at around 5 pm. The tacos are now $2, but that’s still really cheap. It’s almost Mexico City prices, so can’t complain there.

It seems like an authentic Mexican place because they had more than just your standard chicken, beef, and chorizo. They had all the offals, which is rare to see - especially at this price. We had the al pastor, lengua, buche (pork stomach), cabeza, tripa, suadero. Most of the tacos were fine, though the suadero was dry. The al pastor was good but some pineapple could have put this over the top. But the star of the show was the tripa. I think they must fry it or something, because there were crispy bits in it, which really made the taco. At least, we thought it was tripe since we couldn’t really tell what was what just by looking - but came to tripe as a process of elimination.

I’ll be back to make sure it indeed was the tripe, and next time, I’ll be trying the ear, and pork skin tacos!

Tip - they don’t tell you this, but if you use credit card, there’s a processing fee - which I found out...

I have been going to this place for so many years and I will NEVER recommend this place ever again!!!! I went in on a Tuesday at 11:45 with a party of 4 we sat in the back table but the air conditioner was on so I asked the server very politely hey can it be turned off and she said no so I asked can we move somewhere else? She said “no it is lunch hour and we have to save tables but you can sit next to those people” the rest of the restaurant was EMPTY and the only option she gave me was to sit next to the only people that were there! I stayed because we were hungry and nobody else came in that time therefore it was unnecessary to make us all sit next to other people. I WILL NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY!

FYI you either need to pay cash or they will have charge you more to pay with a credit card.

The tacos prices went from $1 to $2!

After this horrible experience I started looking for other places!

I can recommend Jalapeños in Wayne! It is an amazing place and on Tuesday’s the tacos are $1! The staff is so amazing they are so friendly! at our last visit since we went early and they have happy hour! They have the best fried calamari is it fresh! The tacos are so good and you can add rice and beans for a few extra bucks! It it amazing!!!!

SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND DO NOT COME TO MEXICO DELI! There is way better places...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a small, family-owned Mexican taco restaurant called "El Original Mexico Restaurant." The restaurant is located in a somewhat hidden spot, but it is well worth seeking out. On Market St, in Passaic New Jersey, this restaurant brings out the food of its people with great prices. The tacos are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the flavors are truly authentic. I tried the carnitas taco, which was made with slow-cooked pork that was tender and flavorful. The al pastor taco was also excellent, with its smoky, marinated pork and pineapple. What a unique sweet taste it gives off. The tortillas are made fresh daily, and they are the perfect vehicle for the delicious fillings. The salsas are also made in-house, and they add the perfect amount of heat and acidity to the tacos. The service was friendly and attentive. The staff is always happy to make recommendations, and they are willing to go the extra mile to make sure that you have a great dining experience. Overall, I had a wonderful meal. Not only that but the horchata was delicious, the service excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. Only $2 per taco, with a wide variety of options to choose from. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves authentic...

Today I give this establishment 1 star for the bad service I received once again. I eat their tacos on a weekly basis and their tamales from their other place. The majority of the times I go the main waitress seems to have a chip on her shoulder. And its always this particular one bc I have no issues with the other waitresses. Every time I ask for extra limes she tells me, and not always in a nice tone, its an extra charge even when I order 6-8 tacos and only receive 2 slices of lime. This has been going on for years now. Can someone in management tell me if there is in fact an extra charge for limes??? Which I feel there shouldn't be especially if all I'm asking for 2 or 3 more slices enough for the amount of tacos I order. Also, I don't use the green or red salsa they give out. Today my order was done thru the website and I specified it on the notes. When I gave the salsa back she told me, and once again not in a nice tone, next time to put it on the notes. This is now the 3rd time I have specified on the note, no salsa, and yet they still put it in. Well lady, it was on the notes along with other specifications, which none were done. I go for the tacos and not necessarily for the service. However, I don't need a waitress getting nasty with me over limes!!!!
