Great Morning Crew, But Night Staff Needs Improvement
I hate to leave a negative review without also acknowledging the positive, so here goes: The morning crew at this place really shines. They provide quick, friendly service, and the food and coffee are always spot on. I’ve never had a bad experience with them – they always make my visit enjoyable!
However, when it comes to the night staff, it’s a completely different story. I don’t want to include the three recent younger employees, who are always great, but the two older gentlemen working the evening shift are clearly out of their league. They struggle to make a simple coffee, the food they prepare is usually terrible, and their customer service skills leave a lot to be desired. They seem to take offense to any kind of feedback and immediately go on the defensive, which isn’t what you expect as a paying customer. I shouldn’t have to feel uncomfortable when I’m simply asking for my coffee to be made correctly.
It’s honestly a hit or miss with these two older staff members – sometimes the service is fine, and other times I’m left wishing I could just wait until tomorrow to get my coffee replaced by the morning crew. It’s even worse when you go back to have them fix your order – the newer staff will always apologize and offer to make a fresh cup, while the older employees can be seen speaking in their language and making the younger team members visibly uncomfortable.
If it weren’t for these two individuals, I would absolutely give this place 5 stars. The rest of the staff, especially in the morning, really makes up for a lot of the frustrations, but it’s hard to ignore the impact these bad apples have on the experience. Both employees were on their personal cell phone when I walked in (9:30pm Sunday night) the old Indian lady took my order while still talking on her cell phone and talking in her Native language to the caller. After. Made my order, she charged my card and told the old Indian guy to make my order. He told her they there were no plain bagels, which is what I had ordered. She tells me there is no plain bagel and then tells me to choose something else. Uhhh no Lady, you should’ve told me that before you charged my card.
