Chicken Supreme — Restaurant in Paterson

There is something about Chicken Supreme (located at 309 Union Ave, Paterson, NJ). It is the UniQlo of fried chicken places (simple, but made well, and available at a reasonable price).

For sure, there are other fried chicken joints (e.g. Urban Chicken at 3 Glenridge Ave, Montclair, NJ) that have better recipe and quality, but the salty crispy fried chicken at Chicken Supreme is very satisfying and compels you to go back for more.

The place has been around since 1976. Some say that recently the quality has gone down, but I have found it to be very consistent, exactly the same as the first time I tried it. This could be maybe because I don’t eat fried food that much. Even then, my favorite fried chicken is Korean Style Fried Chicken; My goto joint is Urban Chicken; But without doubt, there is something about Chicken Supreme. It has a distinct crispy texture, different in a good way, and the breast pieces are never dry.

If you like fried chicken, this is the place to go. It's always freshly made including their sides. The chicken has a nice crisp and every bite is so moist. I always get their mash potatoes with extra gravy bc it's not too thick or like the one you would get at KFC. The mash is smooth and the gravy seems like its more of a chicken gravy and it goes perfectly with the mash. Also their slaw is amazing. One thing my hubby loves, is that you can choose between rolls or cornbread for your other and we go with the cornbread all the time. Its delicious. The staff is very friendly and the place is always clean when we go. One thing for sure, it does get crowded and very busy especially on weekends. I ordered online but turns out they were closed when I got to the store. N the person that was there did not help me not even a little he looked like he didn’t care at all and all he said was that I was going to get my money back I said ok I went home and the next day I called the store to make sure I was getting my money back and the first time I called they told me they did it already when they didn’t.
