Read moreI write this review with a heavy heart as Gelotti’s was a staple in my childhood whenever I visited my grandparents house. However, I feel as though my latest experiences need to be shared. My absolute favorite order is 1 scoop cake batter and 1 scoop chocolate. The past several times that I have went over the course of several months, I have had a variety of negative experiences. Twice, I clearly asked for the same order “cake batter mixed with chocolate”. Unfortunately, it was not until I got to my car that both times I realized they gave me other flavors than cake batter, of which looked similar to the natural eye. One flavor containing walnuts and the other containing cinnamon. The third experience, I did not realize I again had the wrong order until I got home (in wayne). At that point I was so frustrated with the inconsistency of their service that I just threw it out and wasted my money. However, I decided tonight to give it one last try as I was truly craving some ice cream. I received the correct order, however as I was eating my ice cream I bit into something hard. A little freaked out, I tried to taste what it was...low and behold it was a peanut butter chunk. Although the service has become nothing but horrible, I am appalled at the clear signs of cross contamination. Mind you, I have no food allergies, however every time this happens to me I think about someone who might. All ice creams that contain nuts should be in separate cases with serving spoons that are specifically used for those cases. Additionally, the staff should be more conscious about the food they are handling verse rushing people out no matter how crowded. For someone who may be allergic to nuts, being served the wrong flavors, that look very similar until you bite into or see a walnut/nut, or biting into a chunk of peanut butter mixed into their cake batter (or whatever other flavor)...
Read moreI have gone to Gellottis a couple times and it has been to buy ice cream. So for my sister's 7th birthday she said she wanted a cookies and cream ice cream cake and I thought why not get it from Gellottis. I went in one week in advance and placed my order, the girl who works there told us we had to pay in advance and we ended up paying about $65+. The girl guarantees me that everything is set and to pick up around 1:30p. The day of the party, my dad tells me to call in advance and give them a heads up that we will be going a little earlier like about 1:00p. ( I didn't because I was confident that the order should have been done before the time of pick-up) I get there and the same girl sees us from a distance. Ofc we don't wanna bother because there were a couple other people getting ice cream so we waited ( because we had gone earlier to make it to the birthday party before the guests arrived) a couple minutes later she approaches us and tells us that SHE DIDNT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED but THE ORDER WAS NOT MADE. I have a 7 year old waiting for her cake and almost crying- which should have been the best day ever! And then they looking at us like what the heck how are they gonna fix this mess. Not only did I not get the cake that I wanted ( I got chocolate and vanilla instead of cookies and cream) but we also got to the birthday party late AND they only returned $6 back when they really should have refunded us 50% for not having our order done and making us wait almost an hour. We had parents calling us that they were there already and we were still on the way. We left Gellottis almost at 2pm and we got there by 1:10pm. They kept saying it'll be done in 5 mins. Yeah right! Horrible horrible horrible! They should not hire people who are not...
