If I could give a "negative" star value I would! We recently ordered delivery from Lon U Chinese and Thai in Norcross, GA on a Sunday night. I was told delivery would be "about an hour." When our order had not arrived an hour and a half later, we made something else to eat & I began calling the restaurant to cancel. I called repeatedly for 20-25 minutes to a constant busy signal. The delivery finally arrived nearly two hours after I placed the order! I explained to the driver that he was late and I didn't want the order. He didn't speak English and acted very confused, pushing the bag of food and the receipt & pen at me. I took the delivery and immediately called the restaurant. I finally got through at around 9:00 pm. I explained that the delivery was almost an hour late and we had already eaten something else and stated that I'd like a refund. The manager initially acted very confused and didn't know how to respond. I restated that the food had taken two hours and that I'd like a refund. She then became very belligerent, unprofessional and irrational. She said she had told me it would take "about an hour," that our order was large (it was three entrees and some Spring Rolls), that I should have called them to cancel... over and over. Every time I tried to speak she talked over me, interrupted me and continued to restate these same points. Over several attempts, I explained that if she had warned me of the time-frame, I wouldn't have placed an order at all. I explained that I tried to refuse the delivery and that they were welcome to come pick it up. I explained that I tried repeatedly to call and cancel before the driver ever arrived. She just kept talking over me, interrupting me, lecturing me on what I should have done, BLAMED ME for the size of my order, and even blatantly told me that the $45 IS MORE IMPORTANT TO HER THAN IT IS TO ME. She then CALLED ME BACK SEVERAL TIMES to continue the debate! I have never encountered anything like it! I simply asked for a refund. If Lon U had refunded the money or offered a discount on a future order, I would have been happy. My husband and I worked in the industry for years – even owned a restaurant. I worked as a retail manager as well. I know and understand the relentless pace and pressure. But I will never understand this approach “customer service,” nor will we ever order from Lon U in...
Read moreThis review is solely on the food . And criticism for the cooks and owners. This was my first time eating at this restaurant and I was excited and hungry . The waitress was great super friendly and attentive no complaints on that . But the food I ordered was DISGUSTING ! I ordered a chef special (mango chicken) . Freshly cooked food always has steam coming off of it and you can tell when something’s been freshly cooked as soon as it was Brought to the table there was absolutely no steam coming off the chicken. I decided to cut off a little piece bc It looked questionable. The chicken was room temperature And some pieces were cold ! Not only that, but the chicken tasted off almost like old chicken, it was sour and left a horrible aftertaste in my mouth . As a cook how is that even acceptable to serve? Literally no shame , I’m not the type to ever send back food But this time I had to because it was actually disgusting and cold . Thankfully the waitress removed it off the tab but I wish we would’ve sent all our food back . We got a pad Thai for my son that dish was also room temperature, chicken tasted nasty and the noodles had the oddest flavor. I just told my son not to finish it bc I didn’t want him to get sick from that and he also wasn’t enjoying it and he always gets pad Thai so he is familiar with that it’s supposed to taste like . My husband got some other noodle dish and that one was ok 4 out of 10 . The beef also tasted almost sour and it was chewy and slim . Honestly the only edible thing we had was the egg drop soups , the chips that come with it and our drinks . Everything else tasted old like it was in the back of the fridge forever or like it had been served to somebody two days ago, and they left it out on the counter and put it in the microwave to heat it up and serve . Definitely will not be coming back . And I do not recommend anyone come to waste their money here and if you are DoorDashing from this place please think twice . If they were able to serve us this kind of food with dining in, I can’t even imagine the food people are getting when getting it delivered .to the owner Hire some new cooks who actually care about food safety and quality and taste . I’m sure you’d get more clients If you...
Read moreSummary: get the sesame chicken as take out and you’re good.
I went to dinner with a friend and asked to meet at Lon U because I remember getting good take out from here when I lived in the area a couple years ago. We both order a glass of house red (emphasis on the house because for the price it was more like red wine vinegar but it’s a Chinese place not a winery so nbd). She ordered the apple chicken and when it came out it wasn’t what she expected but whatever. Then we both tried it. It was not good. It honestly tasted like a Glade candle had a baby with garlic chicken. My friend asked to switch out the dish for what I got (sesame chicken— it was fine) and the cook (presumably) came out of the back several minutes after looking like he was ready to pick a fight. He asked what was wrong with the dish and she tried to politely explain that it wasn’t what she had expected and wasn’t very good. He got incredibly defensive and started telling her that she should have read the menu better and that she was going to have to still pay for 50% of the dish. She had no problem with that policy and agreed. We never raised our voices or got ugly about it. It just wasn’t good and she wanted something better. The waitress could’ve told us about the policy and I honestly would’ve just shared with my friend and she would’ve just paid for the meal that she wasn’t going to eat. Instead she took the plate away and said she’d get her something else. Especially since the entree was $15. It didn’t help matters that after that my friend found what looked to be a small bug or at least something small, hard , and dark in color in her wine. After the waitress dropped off the new dish she proceeded to ignore our table for 45 minutes until we finally got the check. I guess we had become too much trouble. So, I recommend the sesame chicken. It’s fine. So are the crab Rangoon. Can’t recommend the apple chicken and if you get it, don’t send it back in favor of something that doesn’t taste like a garlic chicken and apple...
