Our 1st time here was great, 2nd time to take out was great, tonight, Valentine’s Day, was an utter disaster. Outside of dramatic restaurant takeover realty shows I have never seen such an utter break down of organization and shear chaos. Walking in to the restaurant around 6pm there was already a small army of patrons, apparently all with online orders that were yet to be filled. The host was calling out names on his few ready orders but those people weren’t even there. The others, all asking if their name was there somewhere, were visibly irritated.
We got sat down around 6:20 and for the next 35 minutes or so were yet to be even acknowledged by a server. We waived down hapless employee, clearly not a server, who did her best to take our drinks but was utterly confused at her ability or authority to bring my wife a seaweed salad (“Uh, I don’t know if I, ok, yes, let me see if I can, sure I will try to get you salad”). She came back reporting that they were out of seaweed salad so my wife, starving and trying her best to keep it together, asked for Miso soup which pretty much garnered the same stuttering, confused and helpless response. then the poor girl came back, and when we asked if she could take our order (now about 45 minutes after being seated and still not acknowledged by the server) and how long before it may be ready, she said “Honestly I think right now it’s probably about an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes”. And my poor wife blew her fuse. We came to celebrate an incredibly important life event for her, a rebirth since we almost lost her 4 years ago, and it was clear that we had been wasting our entire evening. She was starving, our little girl was crying and our son was so mad he was shutting down.
We asked for the check, then thought about the fact that we didn’t even drink the sodas we ordered, and asked for them to be removed from the check. We kept the soup and my son’s Boba Tea. The poor girl didn’t understand, didn’t know, and wouldn’t agree to take the sodas off the bill.. come on.. $7.00 to make even a tiny smidgen of an effort to reconcile with us.. nope. The manager wouldn’t even bother to come talk to us.
The place was pure chaos, that’s about all there is to it. But what was worse was that none of the staff had the whereabouts or decency (that may be unfair- they were all fairly young so maybe it was inexperience) to let us or anyone waiting know just how long we should be expecting to wait. It is completely unreasonable to let people wait over an hour to eat w/o disclosing that, and to sit them down and ignore them for nearly as long, and then not even making the tiny concession of owning up to their mistake, apologizing that we were leaving w/o a dinner, and still charging us for our measly drinks and cold soup. The server never once acknowledged us and for all we know, didn’t even bother to help out the poor girl that was at least trying to do the right thing as best as she knew how.
So we left, everyone hungry, irritated and $17 and 2 hours poorer than when we showed up.
You know what we did then? We went to Five Guys, where we were greeted with smiles, enthusiasm, confidence and efficiency. And we ate burgers, grudgingly yet fulfilled.
Will we come back to Full Moon? No chance. And I suspect there were a good load of patrons standing around in and outside the restaurant thinking to themselves the same thing.
Now, I could hit them with a 1-star rating, but as I said, we were there once before and had a great experience so they deserve fairness. Tonight was not good and they lost us as customers, but tonight may have been an anomaly. At least for their sake, I sure...
Read moreMy 14yo got to choose her birthday dinner and she wanted sushi. This is the first time we had been to Full Moon and I will absolutely return. When my son didn't order, the nice lady taking our order asked why he didn't want anything. I explained it was my daughter's birthday and she got to pick, but my son doesn't eat this cuisine. She brought us an appetizer of pork dumplings and said it was for her birthday. Low and behold, my son loved them and ended up eating almost all of them. We ate our meals, got our to go order (for lunch the next day) and packed up our leftovers. This sweet lady then brought a piece of cake and a candle and we all sang happy birthday! She did not charge us for the appetizer or dessert. She was so incredibly sweet and really made our night! I don't know if this is standard, so don't go expecting the free food, but the service was amazing and she truly made my daughter feel special. The sushi was great! Thank you for your kindness; I wish had...
