Today I got screwed at the Pennsburg DQ. I stopped at around 1215pm for some lunch. I first went INSIDE & that was a mistake. There was at least a 30 teenagers packed in waiting to make their orders. I tried to wait for 5 minutes hoping the line would move @ a decent speed. It didn't. They only had 1 girl to take orders, then get the food & give it to its recipient. FOR ABOUT A 30 TEENAGERS! I figured it'd take me an hour to get any food. There was another woman in a DQ outfit that'd occasionally step behind the counter from the back. She must be the manager. Do you think she could jump in & start taking orders to help the 1 lone cashier? Nope, she made NO attempt then would go to the back of the kitchen area & disappear. I said no-no, & went out to my car to leave. But then I seen that the drive-thru was empty so I thought I'd give it a try. Mistake # 2. After a minute she came onto the order box asking for my order. I gave it ... Then I waited for her to a knowledge my order ... & waited ... & waited. Nope no acknowledgment despite my repeated saying, "Hello? ... Hello? ... Hello is anybody there??? So I went ahead & drove up to the window. It was the same lone cashier doing drive-thru also. I sat there for about 5 minutes still unacknowledged. Then she finally came to the window & handed me a bag of food & I gave her my credit card. I checked inside the bag to see if I got everything I ordered. Nope, 2 things short. When she returned my card I told her that I am short 2 things I ordered. She said sorry she already rang it up with what I received & she can't change it. I said that I have better NOT have been charged for the 2 missing items! She said no I was charged for what I received. She never gave me a receipt either!!! This DQ is a JOKE! People if you want a burger with fries then go to the McDonald's also in Pennsburg. McDonald's has their S*it together Waaay better then Pennsburg DQ!!! I'm never going...
Read moreI understand that the staff is mainly young people, but I have never seen an adult or manager on shift. This is probably not a good idea, both for safety and professionalism. I appreciate teens working, but I think with an adult working alongside them there would be less mistakes.
I have not had a correct order from this location in the past 2 years. Today, one of my items was totally wrong (a mint blizzard that was mintless, lol) and another was missing (but charged for). This has happened multiple other times, but they are always not sure how to do a refund or have to give it in cash. One time (not this time, but maybe 3 months ago) they asked me to come back for a refund in cash. I explained that I had a sleeping baby at home (hence why I went through the drive-through) and let it go.
I completely understand that it's not life or death -- it's literally just Dairy Queen -- but I think as we prepare young people for the soul crushing reality that is corporate America, we should at least give them the skills to cope with stress, handle customers, time management, etc. However, without the guidance of an adult/manager, how are they able to do this? I get a feeling that maybe the manager/adult is saying that they’re there to the owner but they’re not actually there. I get it, believe me, but it’s not fair to these kids and to the paying customers.
It’s just little things but maybe paying a manager at least $20 an hour or so would encourage them to be engaged with the employees and create a better general...
Read moreI posted 7 years ago for this location. 7 years ago it was ran by all teens. Mostly not professional. One woman tonight who MIGHT be 20 seemed to be the responsible one trying to keep the "team " together. She was doing well.
Today I ordered a cherry misty freeze. Almost 10 minutes later, I get a cherry misty SLUSH.. (that's without the soft serve mixed in).
I said I'm not going to bother correctting it. I don't want to wait another 5 minutes for a drink. Took a sip .. and there was an absolutely unmistakable taste of MOLD! I had someone else taste/smell it. They confirmed I wasn't crazy. Took the drink back up. They offered something. I chose a refund.
My experience at this DA has always been consistently below good standards. Most of the time I come to this location, The employees are very unprofessional. Their needs to be more management and training and obviously more cleaning.
I tell my self I'm going to skip this DQ. But every 7 months or so I make the mistake of coming back. I have to remind my self to stop.
Hope you guys do better. I feel bad for the employees because clearly they aren't being taught the skills to be...
