So I called today at 7:15 and was placed on hold for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes I hung up and called back.. the phone must of been off the hook because every time I called back the line was busy. Frustrated by this I decided to come to the restaurant to place my order. Once I got here I explained to the young girl who was the host (brown hair) about 5’7. That I was the lady she had on hold and I had been calling and the line was busy. I told her that it was really frustrating being left on hold like that without explanation… she looked at me and said with distain. “ well do you want to put it in now I can take your order whenever your ready” “ we only have one cook in the kitchen so we’re backed up” and the manner she said it in was RUDE and it came across like she really didn’t care.. I explained to her that understood they were busy and I had that been explained to me I would not had been as frustrated for the inconvenience. I was simply trying to explain to her my frustration as a customer and how she came across when she never apologized for the inconvenience… she continued to repeat herself asking me to place my order whenever I was ready without apologizing for her rude manner or leaving me on hold whether it was intentional or not. A simple apology would have been enough for me. While speaking with her, her sister (blonde) about 5’9. Was standing near by listening to our conversation and when I asked for a manager she explained to me that she was her sister and she’s 15 so I had no reason to be speaking to her sister like I was because she was 15. Now I was alittle frustrated yes but I never raised my voiced, never cursed, or belittled the young girl. I simple gave her feedback for the poor customer service I got. I don’t think being 15 is an excuse for poor attitudes or customer service all I really wanted was an “ I’m sorry for the inconvenience we’re really busy at the moment. It might take some time for me to take your order but if you can wait I’ll be with you” …. I don’t feel like that I was asking for too much. But the blonde lady really didn’t care. She told me I was wasting her time and she walked away. I’ve been here plenty of times the food is great the prices are extremely fair. But the customer service on today 7/17/2025 at 7:12 - 7:50. Was absolutely HORRIBLE. I ended up leaving without ordering anything and I don’t believe I ever truly spoke to a manager. Honestly it’s very sad and disappointing how I...
Read moreBest Mexican food in the area, hands down - the competition isn't even close. La Isla is actually authentic, and stacks up excellently compared with restaurants I've visited close to the border. They use the right seasonings, the right cheeses, the right meats - unlike the "other place" down the street, which looks fancier (and charges more) but uses very Pennsylvania seasonings (which are great, but not in Mexican food), smothers everything in Philly cheese sauce and calls it their "secret Mexican cheese". 🤣
La Isla is genuine through and through: authentic food in an authentic atmosphere (but still not too loud for a nice conversation). The service is great, and the portions are huge despite being amazingly cheap. Even the cheaper items on the menu are amazing; I can afford to come a lot more often than I would at most restaurants of this quality. Everything here is good - take your pick of what calls your name from the menu.
My favorite is the Enchiladas Supremas, which is humble fare (and cheap) but absolutely delicious (and a huge portion) - feels like good home cooking. The carne asada meal (a thin, juicy steak you can cut up and put in tortillas) is incredible when I feel like splurging (it's still cheaper than basic fare at most places).
The food is not spicy unless you add hot sauce to it (which is authentic) - that's what the bottles on the table are for. Use them to taste, or don't (the food is amazing as-is). The delicious homemade salsa with the free chips is very mild, and probably perfect for most PA taste buds. 😉 I like adding some of the (very hot) red habañero sauce to it, but that's just me. You can bring a whole family here even if they don't...
Read moreTook some clients to lunch today and thought the food here was definitely above average. service was fast, food hot, authentic, and very tasty. The waiter even accommodated the tastes of one of our party who was unfamiliar with the menu and Mexican food as a whole. I ordered the fish tacos and a chile relleno. The tacos were grilled tilapia which is very easy to overcook and it was cooked perfectly. lacking lime or sauce on the tacos but the seasoning on the fish left me wanting nothing more. Fresh tortilla chips and the salsa (which is to be expected at any Mexican restaurant anymore) was fresh tasting with just enough cilantro. Overall, 5 stars, two thumbs up, AND a bowl of guac. Oh...and the relleno? HUGE. FULL of queso blanco, and cooked JUST right. Loved it and would definitely go again when I find myself...
