I gave this place to drive since I was craving shrimp and gumbo and my favorite place was closed that day. The gumbo was HORRIBLE. I'm from the south and I've ate a lot of gumbo in my life.... But this was literally the worst I've ever had. I couldn't put enough rice in it to make it taste better. Not only did it taste horrible I did take out and the way that they bagged it, one of my two cups completely busted and was all over the bag by the time I got home. The 1/2 pound shrimp your way - I can go to Walmart and get 10 times the amount of shrimp that I got for $6 and steam it myself. I had maybe six shrimp total in a half pound, and they were seasoned so much they were burning my mouth. Not only that, one of the tales of the shrimp literally cut me,my finger was bleeding. I ordered my brother a 2x2 platter, which he said was great. So at least $20 out of the $56 that I spent someone liked. I called about these issues and they offered to refund me and repair my food the next day. The next day I go in, I get my two bowls of gumbo which are still terrible, and my shrimp.... I don't know how you mix up steamed shrimp into shrimp hush puppies and fries, but that felt even more insulting with the four fried shrimp 10 fries and two hush puppies. Looks like a kid's meal. If I do, it will probably be a long time before I give this place...
Read moreAll good things must come to an end...and so it is with Shrimp Basket. We used to love the Low Country Boil, which was reasonably priced under $30 and served 2-3 people a delicious meal of shrimp, Andouille sausage slices, red potatoes, corn on the cob, and two sides of coleslaw. We sent pictures to our out-of-state friends and relatives promoting it to them. Then the COVID scam started, and restaurants & bars were shut down. When they reopened, we started noticing Shrimp Basket increasing the price of the Low Country Boil while decreasing the amount of food, particularly the amount of shrimp and Andouille sausage in each order. Last night my husband stopped and picked up a carry-out order of Low Country Boil and was shocked, and just plain mad, when he got home and saw a meager serving for one that consisted of a few shrimp and Conecuh sausage slices, red potatoes, corn on the cob, NO coleslaw -- oh, with a couple of crab claws thrown in, apparently to make up for the lack of shrimp and change of sausage. He checked the menu, and they're calling this new version "Boil for Two" and charging $45 for it. We won't be going back. The COVID debacle has been over for at least two years now, and everyone suffered financially from it, not just businesses. Restaurants and bars that are still trying to milk that cow...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our dinner at Shrimp Basket! From the time we walked in the door until we left the customer service was excellent. We were greeted immediately when we came in. Kylie was an excellent server! She was so friendly, funny and professional. She anticipated our questions and needs before we ever had to ask. We both ordered the AYCE fried fish. The food arrived quickly. I was happily surprised! I got the fries and coleslaw. The plate also came with hush puppies and a corn nugget. The French fries were hot, fresh and seasoned perfectly. The hush puppies and corn nuggets were hot and delicious. Their coleslaw is a treat! It was mayo based, and also had shrimp in the coleslaw. The fish was wonderful! It was freshly cooked, hot and perfectly battered and seasoned. The tartar sauce and hot sauce were both yummy! There was another server working at the time, and I noticed she was also very friendly and cared about her customers. They both had smiles on, and were very welcoming. The manager and owners are doing a great job! I could tell they cared about their restaurant and customers. It was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. Thank you to the Shrimp Basket crew for your hard work! We will definitely be back, and I would highly recommend this location to anyone...
