Grande Pizza — Restaurant in Peoria

We’re always on the lookout for a great local pizza place and we found it this week at Grande Pizza. I’ve had this location saved for months. Our family decided Sunday to head over because we were all craving wings and pizza. I’m so glad we came. The inside isn’t anything fancy…your typical mom and pop spot. That’s what we love though. The food speaks for itself here. The service was amazing the second we walked in. They were friendly, patient while we asked questions about the beers on tap and allowed us to try a sample to make sure we liked it before ordering. There were even a few police officers eating inside. That also tells me it was going to be good. They always seem to know the good spots . We settled on the special with 20 wings and a large pizza plus an antipasto salad. Everything came out quickly. The wings had good flavor and crispy but not dry. The pizza crust was crisp and not soggy which was a definite win. The salad was good. My only complaint is my dang kid wouldn’t stop stealing my olives and cheese ha ha . Access to the location easy and the parking no problem as it’s located in a massive shopping center. When we arrived it was almost dead. I must be honest! My hubby and I were driving around the day after Valentine’s (Saturday) and all the restaurants we wanted to go to were all 1 1/2 hour wait, so I suddenly get a pizza craving and I live in North Peoria, so I google Pizza Restaurants and GRANDE PIZZA comes up, so we’re not to far from that location at all and we head over there. We pull up and it’s as some reviewer’s have described as being nothing fancy, just your typical Mom & Pop looking place and there is only 2 people eating there. Will my husband and I were second quessing our decision, but since I have full confidence on the people who put out reviews I insisted on trying this place out and I must say my faith in the reviews did not disappoint. The pizza was PERFECT! crispy crust and just the perfect amount of everything else. The chicken wings were crispy and flavorful. The small anti-pasta salad was enough to feed (2) was delicious! NOTE: One star is extremely generous!!!! I read all these great reviews before I decided to order a medium 2 topping delivery pizza from Grande. Peppers and mushrooms. I was actually excited because good pizza is severally lacking in my area and I had never tried this place. Add this pizza place to the severally lacking!!! I'm not sure where all those excellent reviews came from, but the pizza I received (while hot) was one of the most distgusting pizzas I have ever tasted. I actual stomached one piece and tossed the rest in the garbage. Pretty big waste of money at $20 plus tip for a two topping medium!!! The crust could not be cut using a fork (when pizza is really hot, I use a fork) and the crust actually cut the insides of my mouth (never even thought this possible). The peppers were extremely slimy and there was very little cheese. Like I stated earlier, I tossed nearly all of a $20 medium pizza in the trash. I would not wish that on anyone!!!
