Went to dinner with my mom here for my first time. It was rather empty and ordered a Italian stallion on white (choices between white or wheat) with seasoned French fries. The bread that they served before our meals came out was pretty good. However, when the meal came out is when I had some issues.
The sandwich I was served was on wheat instead of white, and the fries were a only little above room temperature. I took two bites and had realized it was wheat. At first my mom and I thought that it had been just because it had been baked or something like that. When I asked the server if they had gotten my order right she took it back and talked to the cook I assume. She came back and told me that they were out of white bread for sandwiches.
I many issues with this. Firstly, why was I not informed of this before ordering the sandwich or even upon receiving it? Secondly, how does a restaurant run out of one of the most popular types of sandwich breads? Especially on a lazy not-busy Monday like when I was there. If you have a staple item on the menu (like a lot of different sandwiches) you should not skimp on how many base ingredients you buy such as bread. I estimate you should have at least 1/8 extra of your average that you sell that weekday. Last are the hypothetical implications of something like this. If the servers don't inform you of the shortage of items while ordering and after serving it to you. What were to happen if it was a customer that was allergic to the one choice and not the other? Would they just serve the item they were allergic to and not say a word like what happened with the white/wheat switch? I know the issue I had isn't as severe as that as I had no medical issues because of it. However, you need to ask these questions when you see something like this happen. It could have been a one time mistake, but are you willing to let it be a one time mistake with someones allergies?
I also have a sneaking suspicion that they could have said it just because they didn't want to remake the sandwich. It was around 6:15 and it was a Monday night with the people winding down for the day. This might just be my cynicism talking but it looked like a guy a couple booths over had a sandwich on white. However, I'm not going to say that this happened 100% since I have no proof or confirmation from the other guy. It's only my suspicion and should be treated as a suspicion and not fact.
In the end, when she brought it back for me the fries were cold and the sandwich was still a bit warm from the hot it was. Overall, the sausage was good in the sandwich, but the situation soured my experience to the point I wasn't really able to enjoy it at all. The fries were undercooked for my taste and were sagging in addition to being cold. Though them being cold could have been my error since I wasted time in trying to get the order right. Next time I'll just let my mom go by herself if she wants to try this place. She seems to enjoy it and would probably give it a better review herself.
Edit: Forgot to add that they gave us a 10% off our meal for the switch up. It just doesn't seem like enough to talk about to be honest since I didn't even get the order I wanted in the first place and got stuck with what they messed up. Similar places would have at least either a)Given a cheap dessert for free b) Comped the meal that was messed up or c) Remade it for free to what you actually wanted. I would have given this place at least a 2-3 star review had they done more than just a small 15% discount (which came out to a little over 4 bucks discount on an already over $30 for just a slice of pizza, the sandwich, and a...
Read moreI came often to this location as I knew an employee, the pizza is great, sides are too. I love the loaded fries. The review on this thread with the deconstructed drink says a lot tbh. One thing I cannot get past for the location on union hills is the staff. The kitchen I have no comaints, just the people who actually have to "deal".. aka take care of customers. They tend to be unprofessional, entitled, and rude. The only time I ever felt like I wasn't a nuisance while dining in here was when the individual I used to know worked there. Obviously they'd make sure my experience felt welcomed. Since then I've started occasionally ordering take out orders on the nights where I want to show friends "my favorite pizza place".. Humble pie, Luna pizza, A1 pizza, heck even Hungry Howie's can match or beat what's served here. Hopefully the other locations have better service. There was a holiday where I was trying to place an order, the lady who answered never asked my name just answered the phone and put me on an immediate hold. C'mon.. the decency to at least let me know how long, ask my name, how I can be helped.. but no, I waited on one of the calls for 5 mins with no response. After finally arriving to the store when my order would have been ready for pickup I was now trying to figure what had been going on and why I was being ignored on the phone in the first place. The manager comes up to me and berated the living h* out of me telling me I should have known better than to come in and ask why they couldn't take my order. Mind you, two tables were seated inside. 2 tables on a holiday, and I'm trying to place a take out order and being ignored. I was eventually shoved a business card and told to called corporate and that they "would fix and make things right" it was clear he was just trying to get me to leave and sorry but I'm not doing your job for you.. Sir, you could've made things right by apologizing but you never did. At least the employees here have someone who enables them to provide poor service. This was a very disheartening experience given how often I've supported this establishment and even recommended it. Sad. This review has taken me month or two to work the...
Read moreGreat food, awful service! We work right across the street. Four of us came in for our lunch hour and were seated ready to order about 12:07. There was only one waitress on the floor who took our drink order then went away abd served food and then took the food order of another table that came in 10 minutes after us. We still had no drinks. We had to flag her down to order our food even though there were just a few tables busy. All we ordered was lunch special, wings and a slice - already made up, no lengthy cooking involved. Well, more than 30 minutes went by and still NOTHING, and no explanation, apology or anything. We finally had to go find someone to ask what happened to our food and that we needed to-go boxes or we would be late going back to work. Then the waitress was really quick getting us our bill. We paid and had all our stuff together ready to go when someone else finally came out from the back with our food. We hurried back to work just across the street and had only five minutes left in our lunch hour and had to clock back in and take our food home. And each of us paid around $12-14 for lunch special and a drink, got no refill, got no ranch for the wings, and couldn’t even eat our food while we were there. They weren’t that busy, but only one waitress on the floor and one guy in the kitchen and another guy who didn’t seem to do anything and didn’t jump in to help. The food is great but I will never go there again on a time schedule. The next time, we ordered our food an hour before our lunch and sent one person to get it as take-out in order to be able to eat it in time. It worked but sometimes you like to get out of the office for a little while. I have been to other locations and 83rd & Northern is a little better but not much. This same horrible service happened at the 59th & Thunderbird location too. They are now closed. I wonder if they moved to Union Hills with the same bad service. I will keep eating there because I love all the food. I just wish the whole experience could match the quality...
