Went to Chet and Mat's the evening of May 4th with my family. Party of 7 adults, one child, one toddler and an infant. Staff was friendly. We placed our order, our server read it back to us and we confirmed everything was correct. First problem occurred when our first pizza came out, our server set it down saying she was sorry, but she got it wrong. It was supposed to be a large Two Brothers with mushrooms on half and she ordered it no mushrooms on the entire pizza. No offer to rectify. We let it slide. The other pizzas came out as ordered. We also ordered a dessert pizza. Server delivered our bills, yet no dessert pizza. We asked if it was coming out soon and she said she forgot to put in the order. As the children were getting antsy, we asked for it to be prepared and packaged "to go". We let it slide - again. As we were getting ready to settle our bills, imagine my surprise when one of my sons leaned over, showed me his bill and asked if it could possibly be correct. He has ordered a pitcher of Blue Moon beer and the charge was over $24. My son-in-law also ordered a pitcher of Blue Moon and his was the same price. My bill had a pitcher of Bud Light and the charge was over $13. While the food was ok, it was not correct. While the wait staff was friendly, our server dropped the ball, more than once. To our family the biggest problem was being charged almost $50 for two pitchers of Blue Moon. I would not ever in my wildest dreams expect to be charged that much in any local pizza restaurant for that brand of beer. $13 for Bud Light, fine. Blue Moon is nothing special, a few dollars more, fine. But $25 per pitcher? Seriously? We are from out of state and were on a family vacation. We didn't want this experience to mar our evening, so we paid our bills and left. Next time we are in town, we will find a different restaurant to patronize as we all feel that they are ridiculously overpricing...

For what it's worth, I've only had the pizza buffet here. I went on March 21 2024. The pizza buffet opens at 5 p.m., and the dining room opens at 4 p.m. No big deal at all. This doesn't influence my rating, but it should be mentioned online or outside that the buffet hours may differ from regular hours of operation. (Fortunately, the mall complex isn't far off from here, so it would be easy to kill some time at Target or Old Navy.)
The atmosphere is nice, a few tvs here and there, and a few arcade cabinets on one side of the buffet. Lots of local school sports team and other pro team memorabilia. Very nice decoration assortment if you are a sports fan. (I saw a penant for the Altoona Curve, a minor league baseball team over 3 hours away.) These people have great curation.
The staff were all nice, and none of them looked stressed out. Drink refills came timely and time between taking checks to cashier and heading out was pleasantly quick.
However, the food is not worth what you pay. $14.99 per adult buffet & $2.65 per drink (free refills, pepsi products). (I believe i saw that the lunch buffet (i dont know when this operates) bundles the drink price with the buffet. The salad bar is small, and could do with some chopped protein. The pizza is a limited variety (Mac & Cheese, Meat Lovers, Pepperoni, Cheese, and at one point Chicken & Ranch). And outside of that you have cottage cheese, chocolate pudding, and a cinnamon pizza desert.
If you aren't interested in pizza, there's not really much of a choice for you. East of Chicago in Norwalk has a few soups, sliced subs, and spaghetti on their buffet. And for better pizza variety in general pizza hut buffet in port clinton does way better when they...
Read moreFood quality is not the same since the new owners took over. It appears that they've switched to cheaper ingredients cause the pizza is not as good. I grew up in sandusky and moved to Miami Florida but every time I come home I always get the hot wing and cheddar. My brother said that ownership changed and its not as good. Didn't want to believe him but he was right. The hot wing and cheddar is marginal at best when it used to be excellent. All other pizzas on the menu have also downgraded in quality. I normally don't leave reviews but I felt like I needed to with chet and Matt's cause I think the quality of pizza has dropped so much that it's not worth going there. I hope the new owners read this and switch back to the previous ingredients cause I feel that if they don't, they won't last. I went there to pick up pizza tonight and the place was dead, when normally it would be packed. Switch back to the original ingredients and make chet and Matt's great again
Reply to comment by owner. There's no way, something is off. I looked through some of the previous reviews and other people have the same opinion as me. You can say it's the same but it sure doesn't feel like they're the same. And if it is the same then you guys are doing something wrong cause chet and Matt's used to be one of the best and now it's not. I hate to be negative but something isn't right and isn't as good as before. I hope you guys get it...
